Collecting a 1150 tomorrow - the seller says its a 05 1150GS - According to Parkers the 1150GS finished on 2004 but the GSA ran on for a few years - how can I tell whether its a GS or a GSA?

Thanks, Mark

easy. an ordinary 1150 has a dual seat.. a GSA has a single piece seat. There are other differences.. size of the tank being the most obvious. but the seat is the real giveaway, The fact its an 05 means nothing.. all that says to me is that it wasn't sold until 05. even though it was made in 04 (or whenever) More likely 2003... the last 1150GS rolled off the production line November 2003.

you can easily find out when exactly it was made by entering the last 7 digits of the bikes VIN number into the field on this website. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?vin=&kind=M&arch=0

btw. my own bike is a 2000. however according to the VIN it was made in December 99. the very last month of production.

hi ducatiparts, im assuming from your user name that you may have or had a ducati, ive got an 1198 at the moment but also lookin for a 1150gs was going to get rid of 1198 for a new 1200gsa but thought id have best of both worlds for the moment good luck.:aidan

Thanks, but do you mean GSA has only a riders seat, or a one peice rider & pillion seat?

George, Yes several. I deal in new & used spares adn break a few and am now diversifying into other European bikes as well. The GS is a fixer upper that I'm looking to tidy up and sell in a few weeks.

GSA has a one piece rider/pillion seat assuming no previous owners have done a conversion :)

GSA came with the larger tank from 04 I think,
it has taller suspension,
has a larger screen,

why do you doubt the seller about there bike in the first place ?
