Zweckdesign make the best version I've seen

....

got one of them :thumb very well made :(

I've found the photos for those that don't like TT prices  ok it's not as smart but when your luggage is strapped down... :nenau

Piece of alloy chequer plate around 300mm x 300mm

Use the 2 side slots and drill a hole at the front to secure 3 'Mini' rubber exhaust mounts, a couple of quid from halfords.
Use dome nuts to prevent snagging.

The rubber mounts lift the plate up a bit so when you have luggage across it you can still get you pannier lids off :thumb

I looked at that too.... but was wary of it reducing the volume on the Alarm.
It looked like it might well do just that...

Vern's Version

A few months ago, Vern was threatening to re-commence his manufacture of these things - Vern are you out there?

Seems there might be a market (including me).

From what I can gather, it is. It certainly looks identical... Although it seems to be about £45 more expensive from Wunderlich than a price given on the Zweckdesign website. However, I suppose the postage, inconvenience and sheer fannying about of trying to buy direct would cancel out a lot of that saving.

Ho hum, swings and roundabouts...

Er... I... er... ermm...

Well I definitely browsed the handbook. It's where the idea came from. :D

Tried the widget this morning when I was farting around fitting the power cable for the GPS, didn't seem to be able to get it to work though. :eek

Operator trouble probably. :(

I cant get mine to work either. :o

I feel a bit better now. :D ;)

It's all a conspiracy to force us to buy ZweckDesign luggage plates at a 40% mark-up from Wunderlich...

Bloody capitalists.

Sussed it...

The widget slots into the underside of the plastic tool tray cover, it doesn't just go through the hole like I thought. :o

Nevermind, Wunderlich/ZweckDesign plate on order. Just have to wait a few weeks as they only had it in black.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. :)

.......probably not a realistic option, i.e. do they ship, taxes, etc.
FWIW I bought the Bestrest one back in '02 before I knew Vern :bow made them. Cost about a ton and postie couldn't be arsed to collect the £17ish customs charge  . It's a good bit of kit as you bin the tray and fit their soft liner which sits on top of the mudguard and gives a bit more space for whatever :spl1f:.

Regards, Mick

I got one of those bestrest products thingies from the states a few weeks ago, nice bit of kit and comes with a wee bag to put your gear/stash in.
