Considering getting one of these and there seem to be some cracking deals on the 2014 model.

Asked at the dealers -what is the difference and reply was just decals and not much else.

I am reading about lean sensors on the 2015.

I am looking at the R version

Any comments appreciated

The 2014 bikes had MSC as standard so I don't know what else the 2015 has to offer over the 2014? :nenau

2015 bikes are £13999 otr where as the 2014 is now available at £11499

For me that £2500 saving is a no brainer. I personally don't like the new 2015 graphics which makes the 2014 an even better deal :clap

Having just purchased a 2014 that I pick up in 8 days time :D But I'm not counting the days  you will be able to get good deal on a used 2014 with lots of toys fitted.

Good point ...... but all pre 2015 model year bikes are having their starter motor upgraded to the 1290 spec starter FOC

Thanks for the info

Airbox seems to be the same part number on both years

Starter motor on 2015 is same as the new 1290 and costs about £350 if/when it needs replacing

What would people recomment

Adventure or Adventure R

It would appear that the 2014 Starter motor has to run at 110% to crank the motor when cold, so much so that it's stealing current from the other systems required to start the bike, i.e. Ignition / injection / ECU

I don't think this is the case. AFAIK, KTM are strongly resisting doing this.

If you are having cold starting issues then KTM will upgrade the starter motor for the 1290 version and carry out a cold starting download all FOC. If you are meeting with resistance to carry out this modification then I suggest you change your dealer :augie

Ride both back to back and go for whichever suits you best. There's no price difference. You can buy both versions for £11499 otr :clap

Spot on Chris :thumb2

Watch the video via You Tube then read the 'Rusty Biker' comments underneath

I've got a 2013 model which I have just bought, I don't have any starting problems but how do I check which starter motor I have fitted?

And what is the change made to the decals, pictures of the 2015 model on the KTM website look identical to mine as far as I can see.

I've seen an almost identical Video on Giles's phone of him cranking his one over ............... and then a video of him trying to start his KTM :D

Call your dealer and quote your VIN ..... they will be able to tell you what upgrades and mods the bike has officially had

The word 'Adventure' on the fuel tank is smaller and more angular on the 2015 bike

Cast in number on the end of the starter is 17 on the old model and 13 on the new one.

:D

Well now ....

I have reservations about this. The fuel light had been on for ten miles or so before I had put it away, and if you listen to the vid it's spinning up aright but just not firing. If you notice, it fires the moment I stand the bike up right from it's side stand. Low fuelling ?? I dunno, but it's not done it since ... :thumb2
