I've just had my 2014 GS TE in for replacement engine, final drive and switch-gear under warranty. The bike had an original 6800 miles on it and the new engine has barely done 200 miles.

I'm in a quandary!! Do I keep the standard GS with the new engine which has been on PCP for a almost a year now, so looking at taking a hit financially, or do I try and swap for a 2014 GSA TE with 10k miles?

GSA looks in great condition, black engine, 10K miles and no corrosion. My TE has silver engine, 200 miles and no corrosion!! I just love the presence and range of the GSA which is where my heart is taking me, or do I save money and enjoy my existing bike with a brand new engine in it?

Am just about to pay for extended warranty on the GS, so if the finance can be sorted for zero-nothing to pay, then with no deposit on the GSA, I'd be paying out the same monthly as I would with the existing finance and ext warranty combined.

Help me spend/save my money please!!

JB might have a point.
You rarely see a GSA owner buy a GS to replace it .

Get the GSA.

LMFAO.....if there was ever the best possible answers to a stupid question, those were it....

Thank you JB and Stuart...your comment 'You rarely see a GSA owner buy a GS to replace it' made me laugh and realise the truth of it all...I can only hope the sums add up tomorrow!!

You will be never satisfied until you own a GSA

But do you need all that extra fuel , kgs , seat height , extra width ... the gs is a much more every day usable bike as its lighter , sharper and better looking.
Okay if your intending to ride where fuel is an issue you need one and where the roads turn into bad tracks , but in the real world the GS is a fantastic bike slim and sexy , not like riding its fat ugly sister lol IMHO

stick, it's got nothing to do with needing extra fuel, etc etc...it's just because I 'need' one...sorry, 'want'!!

I had an 1150 Adv and a 1200 Adv...I have a triple black Adv as a courtesy bike just now and it just feels the way I want it...I'm all about being able to carry absolutley everything, do my shopping for the week, travel back to Ireland every month to see the family....and not have to worry about needing to stop for fuel or if there's enough tie down points to carry all my luggage...normally carry a 100 and 60 litre roll bags as well as panniers, tank bag and top box....everything bar the kitchen sink!! I like to plan for every eventuality!!

Sounds like you have got the perfect package for your needs , I was only spouting my feelings and glad your happy .
This world would be shit if we all liked the same .. happy days and enjoy your new ride:)

Hey Stick...my reply doesn't read like I heard it in my head...I fully agree with what you say, but I just can't help myself... It's the reason I bought the GS over the Adv originally as it's actually what I 'need'!!!!!

It's only now I'm about to fork out for the extended warranty that I realise I can afford the additional expense...so why not get the Adv with 2 yrs extended warranty....

I remember my mates asking me why I had bought that ugly bloody bike when I rocked up with the 1150 Adv...but it was the best thing ever...

But thank you for your reply and hopefully my reply didn't offend...It definitely wasn't meant too!!

No offence taken whatsoever , I still think the old 1150 was a great looking bike . I'm picking up my new bike today GS 1200 TB so I'm a little excited as well , happy riding and enjoy every mile.

I prefer the looks of the GSA over the GS....unless it is the Triple Black which I think looks MUCH better on the GS....enjoy.

Well, someone will be getting a good machine with the new engine in it as I've already put a holding deposit on the Adv!!!

So I've excited too!!! Can't wait!!

We thought your Guzzi was bad enough, then you turned up on a tractor! (Piss taking is mandatory.)

Just how much kit can you carry around the Dingle peninsula on anything else ? Of course you need the Adventure.

Indeed. Pick it up next Tuesday. The Adventure is back
Insurance is a brute though. Went with CN this time....when a company says two days in a row they'll call you back and don't, it's time to move on!!
