11xx speedo drive

i packed mine with grease .
they are about £70 to replace . ( 2 years ago ) 2nd hand ones are rare now.
make sure you set the wheel /speedo drive before you put it on , check by turning the drive , and watching the flat plate go around , put the spindle in , wheel on and check again .
2 lumps on the fork to hold it in place.

Wasn't there a popular mod swapping the drive for an RT one; brought the speedo back to reality.

Yes, it roughly halves the over-read to somewhere between 3-5%. An R/RS/RT (basically any that uses a 17” front wheel) where it has the speedo drive on the front spindle. I’ve even managed to retain the speedo drive when fitting 1250GS forks/brakes.

On my first 1999 r1150gs speedo was ridiculous, over reading by over 10% at any speed, I fitted a speedo drive for an 18" front wheel bike and it was just about spot on.
On my current 1999 r1150gs it was spot on using the standard 19" speedo drive, when it failed I replaced it with another standard one and it is still spot on ???????
