My bike will be ready for its 12,000 BMW inspection within a couple of weeks.

However, I had both the 6,000 mile service and the annual inspection carried out on 30th March 2005, less than 3 months ago.

Will they still need to change the gearbox oil, the oil in rear wheel drive?

IS there anything else I should watch for the dealer trying to do which doesn't need doing?

They've told me that the 12,000 mile job will cost £240 incl of consumables.

From your description of the servicing you had in March, then the most you would have to do is as per the std 6k service.
Does your bike have integral abs ? If so and the bike was 12mnths old in March -was the brake fluid in the wheel circuit changed at that time? If not expect this item to be done as well on your next service.
You don't mention which model GS you have ,but your service handbook will give you an indication of what is done at the relevant services. Also some jobs are time dependant and maybe additional extras on top of the standard service. These items are usually marked with an asterix & number highlighting the relevant notes at the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps

Are you sure that the R1200GS is here?

I had to have the service scheduled emailed to me.

Last time I looked the 1200 wasn't in that list. You can find the 1200 service schedule in the FAQ section. I was assuming Droopy Dick's bike isn't a 12.

Yes, sorry.

Mine is an 1150 with ABS Integral brakes.

The brake fluids were changed in March.

BTW, many thanks for the service schedule link.

Much clearer than in the owner's handbook.
