12 MONTH SERVICE

Had a bit of a shock when I took my GSA in for its second service. Bought the bike new and took it in for the first 600 mile service...no probs...Had not used the bike over winter and it goes over 12 months old with 4500 miles on it, so the service light comes on. I book it in for the second service £180 later I am picking up the bike and notice that its next service is at 6000 niles!!!!1500 miles for the next service and another £180. Amazing!!

Also the courtesy bike was a W reg r1100......something. 1997 bike. Really was an experience, and I really appreciated riding my GSA home after riding that for 3 hours.

Has anyone else had this issue??

That is just because it hit the 12 months before the 6000 miles I guess. Just look at what they actually did on the service (did they just check or actually change the oil/filter etc) and re-assess if you need the 6000 service and the effect on the warranty. Go back and renogotiate the next service cost if not happy.
I just bought a 2009 GS and asked them to change the oil/filter only as it had been stood all winter. The next service therefore is likely to be next year or back end this. By the way I think you will find it is the 6000 + 500 mile service? That's when mine is scheduled next.

A firend of mine noticed the same with his K1200S and just booked it for the 6000mile service....

In the 12 month service i had the following changed,
brake fluid
engine oil
oil filter
sealing rings
and in 1300 miles I have the same done again....
oh plus tappet adjustments....

In all the excitment I forgot to book it in for the next service....I better arrange this.

My mates porsche 997 is two years or 20,000 miles service intervals

I never bother with the time interval servicing its just a blatant rip-off

Get it serviced at the 6000 mile intervals unless you use the bike as an ornament and do excessively low mileages each year
