1200 Adv Panniers

My bright shiney new 1200GS Adv arrives this week but I`m told the metal panniers won`t be available for a while. I need them fairly quickly so it`s a good opportunity to have a look at the competition and see if they are any good.
My 1150 adv panniers were OK but a liitle small and leaked....
I`ve looked at Metal Mule and they seem pretty good but has anyone got any others makes thay can recommend and will they fit directly onto the 1200 pannier frames?

The only panniers that will fit the BMW frames require that you cut the locking tabs off. TouraTech bags will then fit. They are the original designer/maker of the BMW pannier frames. I wouldn't do it, you'd be better off buying new frames and selling the BMW ones, or just hang on to them if you ever sell the bike you can put them back on.

My advice on the BMW panniers - stay away from them - I have them and wish I had Metal Mule's. The plastic cornes that BMW put on them to differentiate them from the TT ones are ridculously stupid. The ones on the top of the box and lid keep the seal in place, and a minor knock will crack them detroying the waterproofing, rendering them too fragile...which is a shame.

BMW claim they are waterproof yet dont publish the IP waterproofing standard to which they have been tested against. Mine leak in heavy rain. Metal Mules are waterproofed to IP56 which is more than enough.

Sorry to hear that 'cause they cost a small fortune. All I can think is there might be a batch problem. Mine have been 100% reliable and dry and that includes power lancing the crud off them. Has anyone had a tipover yet? I'd be interested to know how well they stand up to a "step off". (It's too soon to ask Wizard as he hasn't got his yet)

I just picked up my BMW panniers from Battersea. They only took 7 days to arrive. I had heard when I bought the bike in July that there was going to be a long wait - but apparently not!
