Here's a question.

I've seen quite a few 1200 Adventure photos with what appears to be a non standard seat. I assume this will be a GS 1200 seat or maybe an after market one.

Am I correct have people been fitting another seats to their 1200 Adventures. I have a 1200 Adventure, I am just over 5' 10'' and would not want the bike to be a millimetre higher and may get another seat if this is possible to lower the seat height by 20 millimetres if this is possible.

Regards

ADV seat

I have a 1200gs standard seat to swap for your 1200adv seat if you fancy.

Cheers

Peter I have a low OEM seat fitted from the basic model has lowered the height nicely in fact below the standard bikes srandard seat :thumb

You could probably get away with a standard seat from the basic model and you will gain that extra few mm you are looking for.

As Shaun says fitting the 1200GS 'low' seat to the 1200 Adventure makes the seat height even lower than that of the 1200GS :clap The seat is 20mm lower and slightly narrower at the tank than the standard seat :thumb

Hi again

I hopped on a GS 1200 on the weekend at the dealers and both feet were flat on the deck with bent knees. May have to ask my local dealer politely if they can stick a GS 1200 seat on me bike so I can check it out.

Peter

Hi Peter.
I'm just down in Midsomer Norton with a standard GS seat looking for a higher one. I'm 6'5'' so if you want to swap I might be closer than Cumbria, Shorty.
Maybe see you at the meet 27th November, New Inn Blagdon, if not sooner.

I fitted the standard seat and on its lower setting it is exactly as you describe your wish-20mm lower, whilst I thought I had become happy with the original seat, it now just feels so much more right (I'm 5' 8") its lower but without cramped legs and I'm sat more 'in' the bike, also the seat from the standard gs is that bit firmer which takes away some of the vagueness I originally fealt with the bike when I swapped from my standard 1150.

I've kept the original as I want to retain as much of the original value as possible.

Any dealer worth their salt would let you borrow a standard or lowered standard seat. In my experience they tend to keep them in stock for test rides.

Old balding overweight men turn up with strange bikes with cylinders sticking out & "GS" on the side. I could tell you supermodels (600cc capacity either side?) would attend & hang on your every word, & who knows, it might come true. Nice beer, nice people. 7 to 7.30 ish onwards. Organised by Vendome 41. Usually finish by 9ish. You don't have to come by bike if it's pissing down.
There's about 5 pubs in Blagdon. The New Inn is on the road going north out of the village(downhill) ,probably signed to Nempnett Thrubwell - honest. Ask in another pub if you're lost.
