1200 Diff Oil your oppinions please

Hi,

I'm looking at changing the oil in my final drive. I know it's supposed to be sealed for life, but BW have started in the last year or so to change it at the 600 mile service.
My final drive was replaced under warranty last January 'about 12000 miles ago' BW tell me it will cost about £30 per ltr.

I happen to have a bottle of semi synthetic oil of the right type, weight etc 'new and unused awaiting a suitable job to arise'.

Should I use it or should I get some fully synthetic instead?

BMW MOA has just produced a big report on this subject including the two BMW service bulletins issued.........

2005 bulletin - 75w90 wt GL5 synthetic gear oil - BMW 07 51 0 394 082
or
2007 bulletin - Castrol SAF-XO - same specs as above.

The true stuff is Castrol SAF-X0 but most GL-5 fully syn 75-90 will suffice
