I take it the rear gear bevel and gearbox take the same oil & in the same quantities as a hexhead ? Just doing a little forward planning

The LC doesn't have a separate gearbox it shares the engine oil, the final drive is from an unreliable memory a synthetic EP 75 I think someone will correct me If I'm incorrect.

Why do people call it a diff

I know its a bevel box or final drive but diff conveys the exact same meaning
Only because of the incorrect common usage. I'm sure you know it's a contraction of 'differential' and that the final drive performs no differential function on a motorcycle.
I'm reminded of....
"Nash and Godfrey hated cogs
Made a car with chains and dogs
It worked but I wonder would it if
They had made it with a diff?"

Ok so its different from my previous 13 plate GSA Hexhead, thanks for that info i have a litre of the good stuff from last time so it will do nicely for the diff services.
So, just what is this 'good stuff' that you have squirelled away up your jumper? We need to know, it could be added to the 'what oil' archive for future reference.
He might be thinking about a litre of Scottish finest, whilst doing the service.
Nahh, what i use is Shell Syntrax 75W / 140.

Not anymore.

Why ? I will use it on the bevel drive, i change the oil in that at the same time as engine oil gets changed. Overkill ? Maybe but a one litre bottle costs around £14 and i would get five changes out of it. I already have a new bottle in the shed from last GSA so no money to spend. Even have the large syringe to put it in with
