Astles not replied, don't they want to sell a bike or what?

Popped in to Rainbow today, wouldn't budge on price, £9700, grips, panniers and a givi plate for top box. I mentioned some of the prices on here and they assured me it can't be done?

Time to chase up Astles I think.

I doubt they have one to sell at that price. It's a bit like the old '3 for the price of 2' at the supermarket...............when they only have 2 on the shelf :D

Thanks for the ONE reply folks.

Nobody prepared to say what they paid for their gs?

'06 R1200GS
ABS, Spokes, Clear indicators, Chrome pipe, heated grips, Full luggage,
£8050 otr (mind you it was tax free :D )

Just managed to secure an 06 ABS 1200 GS with White lenses, heated grips and chrome downpipes.

Used or new Glen?

Price at the dealers saturday was something like £9095 + £795 for the ABS +£75 for the chrome and I'm sure he said £25 for the lenses, so around £10k for a new un at book price.

I wonder if some delaerships are pulling some stunts to be able to sell them at these prices? If they are, will one contact me today please!!

I'm still waiting for someone who has actually bought a fully loaded 12 for these amazing bargain prices, not just the ones who 'think' that they can get them for buttons ;)

Well John, these people say they have, so I guess we should believe them. Even a used non ABS 1200 with panniers, grips and a GIVI plate n box was 9 grand at the dealership I visited.

So it's looking like I'll have to bite the bullet and pay what the man asks!

But..... if you believe them, then chase em up and buy from where they buy (cloud cuckoo land?) ;)

And why arent they ALL telling us exactly where they bought (stole) em from? Discounts on one of the most popular UK bikes?

John,

The £8500 GS was from Astles near Grimsby, further back in this thread, I've contacted them several times and a syet they are still to reply. So they've missed out on another customer going there.

The dealership I spoke to in person more or less stated the same as you regarding the discounting on Beemers.

The price was for a brand new Servo ABS bike that the dealer had in stock.

My guess is, it was either a cancelled order or BMW are now starting to try to off load the last of the servo ABS bikes to clear them out.

On Saturday I placed an order for a 1200GS with Heated Grips, ABS, and Cross Spoke wheels for Sept 1st delivery for 9500 (this equates to an 8% discount) from Vines in Guildford. It did take me over a week of negotiating to get this and I am not surprised that people are not getting good discounts by just calling dealers out of the blue - it just does not work like that. If you are serious about buying a new bike, get yourself down to the dealer and get talking to them and see what you can get.

David, I agree with your "get yourself down to the dealer" comment.

It took me 2 trips and a couple of phone calls to get down to this figure.

Roll on Friday. (1st Sept) :bounce1

Glen / David,

I did visit the dealer, and the tale was as I posted earlier. Living in East Yorkshire I'm sadly not going to travel down to Guildford to haggle over a bike!

I'll be popping into the dealers again this week, and hopefully will get them to move on price or stick some extras on it, either way so long as I get more for my money I'll be happy.

Do like me, I live in Cheshire, got the bike from SPC, it's the second one from them, I just get on the phone and wear them down, ;) every day till they give me the deal I'm happy with :D

Like I said, I'll be visiting the dealership again on Friday or the weekend, either way if I don't get a half decent deal, then i won't be buying one.

Who knows, maybe Astles will finally contact me for one of their 8.5 grand ones!!

SBW Motorrad have got a new GS in the showroom which is coming up to the point where they will have to start paying for it, so they will be in a position to do a deal on it. Its in red (the best colour) btw :)
