SBW Motorrad have got a new GS in the showroom which is coming up to the point where they will have to start paying for it, so they will be in a position to do a deal on it. Its in red (the best colour) btw :)

Well.... I've just bought one of their ex-demo machines. :D

Late '05 Reg, ABS, Heated Grips, 3500 miles on the clock, panniers & top box for £8800.00. Oh... & it's yellow, so it matches the Land Rovers :thumb

Still no reply from Astles regarding a GS from them, well it's only been 10 days or so!

Anyway, looks like Rainbow may well get my business, awaiting a call from them today.

agreed with David. Got mine at Vines last november, abs, heated grips & alarm nine grand, roughly 10% off the list price. Took three weeks and putting two dealers in comp though.

Advertised on Autotrader

Canons Motrocycles are advertising on Autotrader 27 brand new 06 1200GS's that are spec adjustable for £8955, immediate delivery. That seems not a bad price and is sure to be negotiable as well. That sets the benchmark when buying.

Phil,

Looking at the Cannon website, that price is the BMW set price, basic bike at £8995, which is now actually £9095 plus any extras you care to add on.

As a side note, Astles never actually gave me a price at which they can "do" the GS for, something to hide there maybe???

Or could it be that Joe Bloggs BMW, approached by a forum member and challenged to match the Astles price, has promptly phoned BMW UK and said "why are you allowing your dealer to undercut the market and sell cheap". After which BMW phone A...........

Now I'm not alleging anything and indeed I'm sure that BMW and A.... are whiter than the driven snow. The good price might simply be no more than a salesman getting his sums wrong. But I do know of other industries where phone calls would happen.

So if you get a good price, be discrete to avoid embarrassing the person who's given it.

Birdseye,

I'd imagine the dealers talk to each other mate, particularly those in the same region. Why shouldn't we discuss what prices we paid for items, last time I loked we were in England and not Russia.

As an aside, Astles never did give me a price for the spec I enquired about, they also offered me £1150 less for my P/X as well.
