Help please

If I want to locate my Vario top box to fit where the rear seat is placed what if any extra parts do I need?

I obveously have the top box and plate located in the traditional posistion at present.

Also anyone had 020 or 021 tyres on a 1200 GS and if so any feed back over say tourances and batlewings etc.

I currently have 021 on and the bike seems to be more twitchy/sensative at the front end.

Thanks

From what i remember you just need a differant plate that clips onto the rear seat location, you then just clip the box on.

never run 020/021 on gs before, but had them on r1100s, and it was a bit nervous on the front,
cant rate tourances highly enough, the standard ones not the exp versions.
altho im running anakees and they seem pretty good even on slight off road.

why do you want to locate the top box on the passanger seat space. much easier to mount it in the normal place and use the seat space for a big peli case, thats been done before, and would be easier to mount i guess.

I have a top box mounting plate for the pillion seat from my recently sold 1200 if you want it, its gathering dust in my garage at present.

£20 plus postage.

PM me if interested.

FWIW I have on 05 GS and in my case it was simply a cheap (!) kit from BWM that you add to the topbox base plate. Just ask the dealer's parts dept.

I use it all of the time. Great option. :thumb2

I used to have my top box mounted in place of the rear seat on my 04GS and the only extra parts required were 2 off 90 degree turn fasteners which are available from BMW . The normal top box mounting plate fits both positions .
