Geojunkie, you may want to have a look at this thread; my first impressions of the 1150 v 1200.

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42759

To update the thread I now have 5000 miles on the GS12, the motor just keeps getting smoother, more powerfull and low down grunt has improved significantly.

As others have said here, stick with it and you'll grow into each others affections never to be parted :D

When my dealer said much the same thing, I thought it was bullsh*t. He was right. They actually do seem to take much longer to run in than other bikes, why I do not know.

And their cars are a bit the same. The auto box on mine was cr*p to start with, jerky, enexpected changes etc. All but imperceptable changes now.

So I reckon give it 10k miles and see how you feel then.

Your having a laugh

 Give over... :D all this tosh about the adventure being better than the 12 and vice versa. They are two different bikes. Everyone has their preference. For me the 1200 is king, hence I sold my STX1300 Pan and my VFR.
Now I have a bike that does everything the Pan did (it was my second) everything the VFR did (it was my third) and its a GS !!. The adventure is great, fine if your 6' plus but if your a vertically challenged type (like me :dabone ) the 1150 lard machines just dont cut it.
The 1200 is the best bike for me, i will certainly have another   :clap :clap

Well said MATKAT. What part of Worcester are you? I'll salute you next time we pass :thumb

When you bought the 1150 was it love @ first sight? If so and you're not feeling the same thing for the 12, then give/sell it to your son. Problem solved. It's sounds to me like you aren't done with the 1150 yet.

Geo,

Don't be so ungrateful. Sounds to me like you are a BIG winner.

You started with a BMW 1150 AND an Aprilla Mille R and you've ended up with a BMW 1150 AND a 1200GS !!

Most here would call that progress. What a fine choice you have.
