Mind you I only lasted about two and a half minutes

Depends. If you put the model in a display cabinet, it might last much longer. Leave it on a shelf, and it will be dusted to death within a week.

Ad this one to - how many miles do you get to the gallon ? - or how long will your rear tyre last? - how many months/ years will your new shoes last? - how many days will be chopped off your life by each cigarette smoked ?
And the answer is always........it all depends..........

I think the question is (open to correction here) "how long is a model run" / "how long before a replacement is due". ie Cars from certain motor vehicles have a life of 5 years before a major upgrade or new model - eg BMW E36 replaced by E 46 (3 series models). So the question is " When will the 1200GS be replaced by the 1350 GS"?
