It is a good or bad ideal to paint the side panels. I can only get them in grey and I want black. (I know its not the end of the world, but hey, its what I want.)

Whats a good after market seat that's lower than the stock seat.

Thanks

Black side panels can be ordered at the time of purchase at no extra cost. A lower than stock seat is also a no cost option. If you are buying it used or on the showroom floor, see if the dealer will swap out the silver panels for black. Some people have painted the panels, so it's not a big deal. A lower than stock seat can be obtained by having a custom seat builder build you a narrower and lower seat on the stock seat pan.

www.billmayersaddles.com

come to mind... both build excellent quality comfortable custom saddles.

if you are referring to the BMW lower seat it is a cost option so you end up with two!! I know now have the low one in my garage only used when using the airhawk cover.

Thanks Mike,

The only problem is that I think I live half way around the world from you. :(

I wonder what the shipping charges would be?

You can get it shipped by sea mail, it'll take about a month and it's not too expensive.

Note that the low seat is NOT adjustable for height. I ordered one with my bike with the thought of raising it when doing highway travel only, only to find that it's not adjustable. www.rickmayercycle.com is building me a custom saddle on an adjustable seat pan that I purchased used and sent to him.

You're not going to get great comfort from any stock seat. I can flat foot it on both sides with my 30" inseam.

Thanks motzen,

Those rick mayer seats look like the way to go for any kind of distance riding. Having one built on an adjustable seat pan is good idea.
