1200GS (2010) noisy start
After cleaning the bike today turned the key hit the start button bike started ok but with loud squealing bit like a belt slipping or a rusty wheel went off after about four or five seconds just had 600mile service cam sensor recall and has been running fine anyone had the same or have any ideas ? Cheers

did it do it before the service ?
does it do it every time now ?

If the answers are no and yes then call the dealer and get them to pick it up. At 600m it shouldn't be doing that and you want it fixed as either a service cockup or a warranty item

Sounds like the exhaust power valve to me. My mates 2010 GSA made the same noise after he'd power washed the bike:blast. Is bike was fine afterwards, but he's more careful when he washes his bike now.:augie

Mine makes all sorts of noises, from cold, has done since I brought it home.
Including the squealing like a belt slipping at the front of the engine only when I've washed it, the very first time I washed and started it even SWMBO said what on earth is that  it only had 80 miles on it.

It has now done over 6K miles and no problems :nenau

Ride it and enjoy :beerjug:

Best regards Stretch :comfort

Thanks for the replies
Has not happened since started ok every time yesterday,
I don't use a pressure washer just a hose, exhaust valve sounds about right from the sound it made though thought it was coming from the front of the engine.

Front of the Engine. +1:thumb2

Spray exposed metal with WD40 before washing and dont even think about pointing a powerwasher at a BMW
