I was told by Parklane BMW that providing you take the bike back to the dealer you purchased it from then the first 600 mile service is £60; if you go elsewhere they will charge normal service prices.

Park Lane BMW, the supplier of my 2006 'bike, charged me £125.53 all in for 600 service in July 2006 - this included "£50 contribution towards labour".

I was under the impression that if the service is completed by the supplying dealer, then you only pay for parts, not labour. Any extra work involved in changing the final drive oil should not be part of the cost, only the small amount of oil used.

The 600 service to my 04 1200 was £36.58, which was £36.58 more than the same service on my 1150 back in 2002!

I stand corrected!

Contacted my dealer and have been quoted £136.20 because

1) the final drive oil has to be changed on 06 onwards bikes
2) BMW have introduced a labour charge.

Did'nt know that when I bought the bike!
