1200GS Seat

My first outing on the new GS yesterday, i found the seat pushed me into the tank, unlike my 1150 its very unforgiving, any suggestions ? its on the lowest setting but after a few miles its a bit harsh on your bits !! is an after market seat the answer ? if so which one ?

I ride with the seat on high at the front and low at the back, looks a bit crap but solves the problem.

I just bought a 1150 adventure and i cant belive how comfy the standard seat is on it. Ive owned 3 1200gsa and never found a seat yet that doesn't scwash my nuts. Even the touratch high end seats do it but are better than the standard ones.
Try bar risers, that way you can dit further back on the bike.

I took mine here ..http://www.motorbike-seats.co.uk/ and he resculpted, lowered and inserted a gell pad while I waited.
I'm happy with the result

I had my seat done by a mate of mine at www.customcoachtrimming.co.uk. He's near Stratford on Avon so not far from you. He took the original foam out and layered and shaped new foam to produce a really comfy seat. I've done huge mileages on it and had no problem at all. He won't use gel as he reckons good foam is much better and I would agree

Happy for you to try it if you need to as you don't seem too far away.

Bloody hell Rocky, I can't believe you find the 1150GSA seat comfy. I found it to be the most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat on and an hour on it would reduce me to wanting to kill someone

I have Rox anti vibe risers on shorter mounts so the bars are about 30 mm higher than standard GSA and further back. I don't slide forwards enough to be uncomfortable and amazingly my legs are warmer. I assume the slightly more crouched position must affect blood flow. I'm sure not enough to be harmful but noticeable effect in cold weather.

I replaced my low seat with a high seat and cannot complain about the comfort. However, it still pushed me towards the tank. Since I wanted to retain the extra height the high seat afforded me I decided to raise the front seat mountings by 13mm - you may follow the pictorial on http://gsri.info/forum/board1-techn...-user-mods-other-custom/424-raising-the-seat/.

The seat is now level.

You have to raise the front or you will permanently sing soprano. I put the Sargent seat on after a while and it is amazingly comfortable.
