1200GSA LC ESA harsh suspension

Firstly,I'm not wrong!
My opinion is valid 'cause it's what I think-Why are you getting so personal?
I spend a lot of money on suspension, fitting quality parts (Ohlins,Maxton & Wilbers) on my other bikes I have including a BMW classic racer. Suspension is VERY important.

Secondly,I won't be trying a Suzuki as I'm not interested in budget bikes. I paid enough money for what I expect to be the best of what is available. I do not expect underdeveloped components because BMW have got it wrong on development & budget. At the price of these bikes, who's going to complain about another few hundred quid for the best suspension? Also, nobody has mentioned the handling, the chassis seems really good to me.

Ironically,Ducati have also gone with Sachs and a pal of mine also complains about a harsh ride on his Multistrada Pikes Peak.

If you're happy with your bike, good luck to you pal.

Dont be so tetchy, if you express an opinion dont be surprised if we dont ALL agree. There is nothing wrong with the performance of the suspension on the bike so to make it out to be some sort of sub standard underdeveloped rubbish only serves to make you look a noob.

How do you know bmw got development and budget wrong, are you some sort of industry guru with inside info and inside knowledge on profit margins?

Try the competion and tell me a better suspended bike.

Im happy with the bike , very happy with it its the best bike ive ever had and ive had plenty of them, inc more than a few with ohlins fitted.

Michael

IMO it would appear that your bike may have a problem.

Have had both the standard WC GS and now the GSA both with ESA. Very happy with both bikes and can compare with earlier Hex heads which I fitted Wilbers to.

The latest WC's suspension is the best of any GS so far :)

Plenty of owner would disagree with you.
My K13R,K12R and R12R all had WP ESA and were far more compliant and responsive than the Sachs units. It's slow town riding where my bike is crap. Where the active side should make the bike soft at low speeds it isn't. If I don't ride it for a few days, the low speed ride is great, when I up the pace it's great. Unfortunately the damping doesn't back off and soften up as the active side should
My new GS arrives next week so hopefully it's better than my present bike.

Rich, I can only assume you haven't actually grasped what this thread is about, making such a sweeping statement has indeed made you look a noob.

No I don't think so, I've re read it, petulant sulking about the suspension underdeveloped , cheap blah blah is being a knob. Nothing to do with your issue where there may be a fault, someone else took it off into a BMW bashing opportunity. Soz Paul.

I've noticed a lot of skittishness on my GSA shod with Anakees. Doesn't like white lines at all and cats eyes in the wet definitely tighten my sphincter. In fact I hate the tyre and will be changing.

SiRich,

I'm just pointing out the short falls of my bike. Furthermore,if BMW have it wrong what's the harm in them knowing and customers airing their feelings?
As for BMW bashing-you're wrong AGAIN. I've currently got 5 BMW's of various ages and guises so feel entitled to have grumble about something that's not right, despited what you think.
As you said,I don't expect everyone to agree with my findings, afterall we all have different riding requirements and abilities but what p****s me off about you is you calling me a knob. Not required. Do we really need to resort to name calling? As for the phrase "petulant suling" grow up!

What you need to do is actually read what many other people are writing on this forum,I'm not on my own having a go at the Sachs set up.

My 2014 bike arrives next Friday, what about yours? Oh yes, I've noticed that your selling your bike-odd that!

All forum users should bow to your superior knowledge, intellect and opinions.
If I want to write anything again I'll make sure to run it by you first.

Hi,
If you don't need a dual purpose style tyre, try the Michelin PR 4's. They're much quieter,(mine used to hum)smoother and have more grip.

Mike.

I wouldnt have said you were a 'noob' if you hadnt gone off on one, veruca salt style.:D. I initially said 'i think youre wrong'. Not 'you talk shit, end of'. Was it such a big deal.:nenau

Customer feedback to bmw fine, ways and means to say it, someone wrote a complaint letter and posted it in here a month back....look it up.

My bike is for sale because of personal reasons, ie keeping a roof over my head. Sometimes you need to put things into perspective. Though i may have struck lucky so expect to see me keeping it.

Shall we get back to talking about bikes.:beerjug::thumb2

That'll be fine with me.

Piss poor fight that was.

Never mind, there are heavyweights brawling in the RT section.

Wapping, I went over to that RT section after reading the above and its even better than on here!!!

Also chaps, someone reckons the GS he has been given is not very steady at higher speeds!!!! WTF!!!!

Come on lets get over there!!!

Tried reducing the tyre pressures but made no difference, so today I phoned my dealer (AJ) and explained the issue, they checked with the technicians who stated they hadn't had any other customer comments and they checked the system for software updates.... none.
So the bike been out a few months now, if you are having issues for all our sake let your dealer know so it gets referred back to BMW for a fix.

I've already been to the dealer and this has been an ongoing issue with me for a year.
Got the usual dealer response "We've not heard of that problem before Sir" and after they eventually looked at the bike for the second time, "We've reloaded the latest software in ECU and there's nothing wrong"
Personally,I think more people complain than they let on.

It would seem to me that the high speed damping is set too hard.that would give a supple ride on big bouncy undulations but be very harsh on sharp edges in the road surface.

I fixed my perception of my toilets harsh suspension by taking my ZX12R A1 out for a spin a little while back, now the GS feels like riding a magic carpet :)
