1250 GSA pics

That's providing my spoked wheels dont collapse, my forks don't collapse, my electronics don't collapse, my engine doesn't eat itself or the final drive destroys itself.

Bring it on...

I’m not ready to change and would like to avoid the problems associated with being an early adopter.

Sooner it’s launched the better IMO, then we can see what features and changes it has, I’m still not convinced by GSAP or keyless but the TFT dash and hill start assist are good.

I use GSAP maybe 30% of the time. Keyless I tried to avoid when I changed my bike in the spring as I use my boxes every time I’m on the bike for work so have to use a key anyway. Bike couldn’t be had without keyless so I took it, do you know what? - I kinda like it now. I’ve had no issues with it and my only problem now is I’m less inclined to lock my boxes at short stops as it means digging the keys out!
Is it a life changing must have? No. Is it nice? Yes, yes it is.
I just wish they had done away with the ignition barrel with keyless as it really looks like they just replaced a key hole with a button. Also I wish I could still lick the bars in either direction.

Which is exactly what they did .

You’d think for the 1250 they would have integrated it like KTM did on 1290.

Ill be keeping my 2018 Rallye Adventure, As the only thing in the new bike is the shiftcam. which as a EU5 regulation only, just a bonus that is has a few more horses etc, which is hardly noticeable.

I'm a keeper too.
When I bought my 2017 GS Rally it was exactly what I wanted and it still is. Like others I'm not knocking the 1250 at all as it looks the business but my bike is perfect for me and, like most others, I have pimped it to how I like it.

What does annoy me, and I have commented on their vlogs, is that a lot of the vloggers are comparing the 1250 against 2014/15 1200 GS' and saying how much better everything is. My cynical side suggest that this is because they have been loaned these bikes from dealerships on the proviso that they 'big it up' to help sell. If the new bike is compared with a 2018 GS then the only difference is a: the engine and b: modified hill start control. The problem is all these vloggers (and the salesman in my local dealership) are listing better ESA, Quick shifters, Dynamic pro etc. as all 'new' Pisses me off a bit!!!

That is all.

I commented on drivemageriders video saying exactly the same. A 2014/5 GS against the 1250.
If they'd pit it against my 2018 rallye ADV there would be very little difference .

I’m on the same model bike as you. I’m actually unclear whether there has or hasn’t been changes to ESA, headlight etc. Some stuff reads like there has and some that it hasn’t.
Mine is going to the dealer next week for spokes and a TFT firmware and they are giving me a 1250 HP loaner so I will see if it feels that different to mine. I know it’s going to feel nimbler anyway as I’m on adventure model. Will see if I can talk to the master tech to find out if any of the rest of the gubbins are actually any different.

Be interesting to see what you think after you've ridden the 1250. My tip is to forget talking to the tech guy and just ride it. I had a 2015 GS TE and test rode the 1250, it was a lot better on the gearbox, so much slicker\smoother on changes, the GSAP works better too. The engine power is noticeably stronger right down to 1000rpm and the pick up from low down is better. I was impressed and
was now never going to be happy with my 2015 TE so I've bought a 1250gs and I'm delighted with it so far. I have no connection or vested interest with BMW, it's just my personal opinion. Like I say keep an open mind and just ride the 1250 loaner and see what you think.

That's my point. On a 14/15 bike there will be subtle differences. But no real difference on an 18. Ref gadgets. There are none. Completely the same spec.

Yes but the gearbox and power changes on the 1250 compared to my 2015 gs aren't subtle they're very noticeable. Can't comment on the post 2015 GS models or if the 2016\17\18 1200's already have the improvements that are in the 1250 gearbox??.

My 18 is as smooth as the 1250.
That said, my 15 & 66 were good too. I never experienced the bad gearboxes people were complaining about. Maybe I was just lucky ?

That’s the thing. My 2018 gearbox is much smoother than my 2015 plus I already have the latest ESA and TFT.
I probably won’t be able to tell if anything else other than engine power has changed as it will all feel sportier anyway coming off a GSA onto a GS.

I think. Other than the motor, the only other thing is the intelligent emergency braking ? Where it takes the throttle off.....

I had assumed they left it like that so like the Ducati MTS1200, if you lost the key when out there is an override that you key in a pin and away you go. Maybe not ?
