Still do not know what all the screaming about the weight is about, because at the end of the day, it is only heavier when trying to lift it or hold it at an angle at slow speed, otherwise, the weight is lovely stops you getting blown all over the road by the trucks.

Weight is a nightmare when flicking the bike from right to left to right to left, through a series of turns. It gets feckin tiresome in tight fast twisties.

Weight is a nightmare when trying to stop the bike from piling into a corner too fast, which means you have a disadvantage setting it up, before you've even got into the twisties.

Having said all that, my GSA kept up with a very competent bikermate on a KTM Super Duke R when he brought it round to show me, and we went for a blast down the lanes.

He had to acknowledge the GSA is also a good bike and it actually surprised him how he didn't just leave me behind way back.... as it would suggest on paper with a top trumps number comparison.

As long as you do not ride more than your body can take, my 8 hour rides have been gradually and happily cut down to max 4 hours in a day, and enjoy it even more now, as for speed coming into the twisties, only your own judgement can help you in that area, still love my GS, now going to take my GS meds and sitback.

The GS,1290 KTM and 1260 MS are very cloe in weight. On the same scale all withing 15 lbs.The GS of course the heaviest due to the clean shaft drive but the GS,especially the ADV is still the best handling as in quickest steering...:thumb2
So there is more to weight effecting handling than picking up a bike lying on it's side...position of the crankshaft, center of gravity, less trail,T-L that make the GS handle better despite being a little heavier.
And TORQUE is way more important on twisty roads and I expect the 1250 GS rule over the KTM and MS !
Topspeed the KTM and MS will probably beat the new GS by 15 mph...but 135/140 or 150/155 when and how often you really go that fast ?
Unless you are Arsey on his big supercharged green blunder-bus from Kawasaki holding it wide-open on the Autobahn because his GS riding friends are taking the twisty roads tired of waiting for him...:D
For 2019 even with 231 hp to go even "faster"...LOL
But a girl was even faster going 243mph on a S1000RR on a dry salt lake in Bolivia;and that without a supercharger...;)
Japanese engineering...:bow

Yeah, I was just pointing out that the GSA isn't any heavier than it's competitors, despite having TL and shaft drive.

It is though! 229kg is the weight of the Super Adventure T. How much does the GSA weigh?

What did I post earlier? GSA fuelled is 263 kg and the 1250 GSA is 268 kg. Dry weight the GS and KTM 1290 Super Adventure T weighs the same at 229 kg.

Boxerloser, I know you’re a Merkin so obviously prone to utter bullshit but I really do suggest you ride a bike before claiming to know all of it’s traits .
You’re only making yourself look an even bigger cock than usual .

That's two words I've had to google now cockwomble and merkin, every day's a school day!

Erin Sills did 381km/h on a S1000RR in Bolivia. Her world record for naturally aspirated bikes got set at 369km/h though as she was able to do this speed both ways !
Faster than any supercharged Kawasaki...let alone with Arseys fat azz on it...:D
As for weight comparisons I put my GS ADV on a scale with aluminum bags and full tank and it came in at 268 Kg.My friends 1290 SuperADV with plastic bags and full tank weigh in at 256 Kilos...12 kilos difference and my GS-ADV still steers quicker than the KTM and does not wobble at 135...
As also I much rather have T-L that does not dive and is way more comfortable on bumpy roads and a clean drive-shaft...:thumb2

Tyzer please clue me in because I'm also clueless what a cockwomble or merkin is...:)

Still not as fast as you on the twisties I bet !

If his claims about the 1290 SAS being restricted in Merkania then there’s not much point in riding a bike punting out a decent amount of horsepower because they’re obviously not trusted with big boys toys.

Beautiful !
Why don't you and Arsey go on a honeymoon on his beautiful and frightening fast Kawasaki visiting chateaus in france...;) Maybe you don't even have to ride "2-up" and you guys can compliment each other you riding his Afreekatween talking about cockwombles and merkins while sipping wine and talking how shit the new 1250 GS really is...:comfort

Andy KTM does not trust the leaches...I mean lawyers...and obviously their own machines...:D
At least the new bags are flexible now with new mounts to make the bike wobble less...but what is the reason for 160 advertised more like 150 crankshaft hp when you can't use it without doing the Honda ST1300 shuffle ?

How do you ride a bike "dry" ?
I mean without gas, oil, battery and tank filled with helium...;)
Don't trust Japanese dynos or Austrian scales !
