1250 to 1300-Is it worth the upgrade ?

Thats the old man when you cant get it up anymore…I mean your leg over the bike position…LOL I dont have that problem…yet and would opt for the 20 mm taller and stiffer sports suspension but if you have short legs and faith the stuff will last I guess the low rider option might be the most important option in order to be able to ride a GS and still be able to corner like on a regular and not lowered GS 👍

Watched the video of the french GS with the golden 17” wheels one more time and saw that there was a header without and flap or premuffler installed on the bike…The muffler is the Akrapovic and it still sounded very tame and had Nothing of the deep bass of the 1250…

Fixed it for ya :D

No bias here of course
Funny I decided early on when picking my 1250 I wanted black rims which was the right decision for a 40 years GSA. I am on the fence with gold v black on the Trophy as it suits both! Might get Reggies spare set of alloys and paint them gold then have a choice!

I was undecided too, in fact I went into the dealer thinking I was going to buy a triple black with gold wheels

Then wifey said “the blue one’s nicer, looks like a younger person’s bike“ and by this time I was already swinging towards the trophy, so I said OK we’ll get ”the blue one“ :D

I was also on the fence about the wheels, I had spokes on my Crosstourer which were a pain to clean (once a year) but the ally wheels don’t look great on the new bike, chose gold in the end as I think they set the bike off a bit better

so I’m going from a very understated frozen dark blue 1200 to a full on mid life crisis in yer face 1300

As I have stated on here many a time, the last new vehicle, bike or car, I purchased new was my RG250WD in 1983. I knew I was being a bit stupid then but I learned from the experience. Unless you are minted, buying new is daft.

Well I must be , or perhaps just able to accept the roll of time from 1983 ... Blimey you held that one in for a long time , have you still a peach bathroom suit as well.
Take a risk before the worms or the gas burner become too close. Its not being stupid more of a case of enjoying life . imho always paid cash for bike , cars or houses .. lol

Arsey I did not know you spoke german ! Respect ! I compared the Top-Test with the 2019 Top-Test R1200 GS vs R1250GS where the EU-4 bike had more power then the 2021-2023 1250GS models...For the ignorant cnuts who dont speak german the main points; As I thought the new one weighs exactly the same if you put a Lithium battery in the 1250 and put one liter less in the tank. The new one has better lights, better as in more agile handling, better wind protection and stiffer suspension which is good if you ride fast. They did not like the linked foot brake as you heared it before...LOL Tank range is 27 miles less which is not good as also the pillion is not as good and the varios are 6 liters smaller.Roll-on in top gear is the same despite having 15hp/NM more due to 10% taller gearing which makes the new one faster above 100mph...Arsey can correct me...Guten Tag und Auf Wiedersehen..Ich warte auf die R1400GS-ADV...LOL

So...the 1250 is still a fantastic bike by any measure, as is the 1200, come to that. The 1300 offers a little more in power/agility stakes over the 1250 but with some disadvantages. Anyone know when the 1300RT is due out? That one may tempt me as the extra bulk will probably benefit more from the extra go, as long as they don't compromise pillion comfort.

Didn't think the 1250RT was lacking in power two up loaded up with luggage for two weeks. :nenau

Morety it is safe to say if the idiots in Washington , London & Brussels start WW-3 and throw all bets off to see the new ADV for the 2025 model year as the GS and S1000XR & RR are BMWs cash cows with RT following and for 2026 hopefully a M or XR variant and hopefully modern R1100S following...With Telelever !
Only the lord knows !
