I've just read this thread with great interest! I am very suprised that everyone says go for the 1150Adv but I can understand the argument why. I've been reading alot today from this forum about the issues and problems people have been having with their 1200GS's which has dissapointed me cause I want a new one. I love the latest everything but it seems these 1200GS are not as well built as the BMW badge and reputation would suggest. I'm now more confused - should I continue along my path of 1200GSs?

Paul.

I have just sold my 07 1200 GSA in preperation for moving to the UK and although during the 18 months and 15,000 miles I had it I didn't have any issues, it is my intention when I get back to the Uk to find an older GS. The newer ones really have gone technically overboard (though I think that comment was first quoted when BMWs were fitted with an electric starter on the /5s!) It would also seem that the newer bikes have become more fragile.

Just to throw a spanner in the works...

My last 1150GS was the most unreliable bike I've ever had. I was lucky if I could ride it out of the garage without something going wrong. This was the only bike I've ever owned that (without exaggerating!) spent more time in the dealer's workshop than on the road. The previous 1150GS that I owned was also a POS. The 1200.......

...sweet as a nut!

I guess there's good ones and bad ones, but I've learned to ignore all the doom and gloom on this site and made my decision on my own experiences.

1150gsa

hi there
Just to put my comments to this thread I have to go along with everyone on here that the 1150gsa is the bike this is my third 1150gsa and. I am so pleased yet again i have had a new 1200gs not the gsa and sold it very quickly it was not for me i was speaking to johnny (boxer) yesterday and he it the nail on the head he did not want to change his style of riding the 1200gs wants to be of quick the 1150gsa has all the time in the world to get there. The build quality is far superior on the 1150. (just my view)
