I have only owned my GS a week, and have had to put it in for its 12k service.
Previous owner had neglected bike, 2year fluid changes and so what was an expected bill of £230 became £330.
This is the first service i have had at a BMW dealer, as its my first BMW. Previous was a honda..
Well if you try to ring Blue Bell you get the receptionist who is nice, but then its a bit tricky to get to other people, like the bike service guy.. they put you on hold and i am sure its a money making scheme, please listen to our adverts for the latest cars, cars cars..
BUT: That aside.. when i took the bike in, and depsite over booking loan bikes as the service guy was on his hols the week before so had to speak to a car guy, who knew nought! Infact less than NOUGHT!
Things picked up and were cool. I arrived, just after nine. Handed over the log book, they pulled up the bike details. I explained its history and the service dude ( name i have forgotted, sorry) said that it looked from the service record like 2 year fluid change not done and anual check not done. So having no idea how previous owner had treated bike, decided to have all that was on offer done.
I reportted the power surging in second gear and handed over keys. They gave me 850R to use for the day ( prearrange and a demo bike as normal loan F650GS over booked) and i went home.
Went back and picked up bike at 5pm.
They had test road it ( about 40 miles from the odometer,, good going for a test ride ) and no power surge..
They did say that there was a new chip and an optional replacement policy for my model of GS, so i booked it in.
Handed over the cash, ( plastic) and got on bike.. after being given a great reciept and a copy of what was done to the bike. Something new to me and greatly appreciated..
So i road home.. WOW
It might as well have been a new bike. The brakes were all differet, ( fluids changed ), and levers were resset,, clutch was nice and resset/adjusted position. The gearbox was better and the engine sounded and is running smoother..
AND best of all,, only a tiny bit of an injection stutter in 2nd at 30mph and none in 3rd, or if there is any i cannot tell it.
OK so after all that.. yes it cost a lot of cash. Am i happy.. put it this way.. i am not extatic at the costs.. but i felt for once i actually got a service and was able to talk ( eventually) to someone who knew what i was talking about, and could explain the service to me. So yes i am happy and i can feel i can say, Blue Bell ( Motorbikes bit ) are at least friendly and there service has made my bike feel great, so i will certainly be going back..
If your like me in North Wales,, Blue Bell are fairly close and certainly worth a try.
DISCLAIMER : I am not, or ever have been an employee of BMW, or Blue Bell..
