Hi, my bike is currently sitting at just under 11k miles and I’m due to go Scotland for a tour (1200/1300miles) which will take me just over the 12k miles. I’m confused as my bikes computer/ service handbook says next service is due 12.8k miles. Question is do I follow the service 12k guidelines for the 12k service (valve check) or do I follow what it says on the computer/service manual. Just don’t want to void the 2 year warranty etc. anyone got any experience of conflicting mileage

Many thanks

Go by the service indicator - the interval is every 6k. Remember it had a service at 600 miles so having a service indicator at 12.8k is not unusual.

Oh ok so it works from the first service (600 miles) and then every 6k after that so that makes sense doesn’t it.? Cheers

You absolutely won't void the warranty with that mileage. If you have confidence in the bike currently then crack on with your trip and get it serviced afterwards.
Yes have confidence in the bike, just don’t know with warranty’s if there black and white like 1 mile over and it’s void.

Might be worth asking your dealer what the lead times are like so you can book your bike in for it's service once you're back from your trip, rather than wait till your back and possibly find out they can't service it for some time which could be problomatic if you've already clocked the miles up and the service is now due.

Mine had running in service at 0441, services at 6494,10739,17365 and is still under warranty bmw does give you extra miles over due to you might be in the desert etc. Lol. Ring ur dealer.

My bike, a 2019 R1250GS, has a BMW Motorrad service plan. My dealer advised me that services should be carried out within 500 miles before or after the service indicator mileage. So, for example, if the bike is saying a service is due at 12,400 miles, then it should be carried out anywhere between 11,900 and 12,900 miles.

as @gregski is in Merseyside, he could arrange to have the service at home or work from Ted @MotoRevive

My dealer told me that for the service plan, BMW won't pay for th servoce if the bike is not indicating a service is due.
I would say go by what the bike is telling you as BMW have set it up that way.

This, they indeed won't do the service under the plan if the service message is not indicating a service required. But you can see how many miles to the lamp will come on in the tft menu so easy to predict and book in advance so you get a slot.
