Does anyone know if the new GSA is fitted with a lithium ion battery or normal one from factory. I bought a new BMW trickle charger which gives the option of normal or Lithium battery charging. I read somewhere that all have Lithium although I am not sure. I don’t have the the smaller battery as Optional extra.
Anyone know?

Mine is not lithium, as JoeBiff says, it is a selectable option.

I dunno about that - checked my build sheet, and there is nothing there about a battery.

I know that there is an option for an ultra lightweight 'M' battery - but that is something different.

Unless lithium battery is part of an option pack & not mentioned seperateley on the build sheet?

The lithium battery is similar size to a standard battery except for its weight.
Think lead-filled, then think polystyrene-filled containers - that’s the difference. 👍

I thought I read they all got lithium

but there is this option - I think the trophy models get it

M Lightweight Battery53B

I have a trophy - no mention of the M lightweight battery on my build sheet, and I cannot see it anywhere on the configurator (except as an option I don't have).

So the question is - is there 2 types of lithium ion battery's being fitted to these bikes?

Or does everyone who has lithium ion actually have the M lightweight option (even if it's not written down anywhere)?

Battery is clearly stamped lithium ion on the top - just double checked.

I thought the lightweight was an optional extra….
Daft question , but why would BMW offer a lightweight battery on a bike weighing 270 kgs or whatever it is ? Do people really pay extra to reduce the weight of their bike to 269.5 kgs ? 😜

No idea captain……all I know it was an extra. Here’s something else for you to laugh at… the gearshift lever is made of plastic….. also to reduce weight??
:nenau :nenau :nenau

The 1300 comes with the lighter weight lithium battery as standard. A regular AGM battery can be optioned . Lithium is easy to identify from the top as they have a small extra connector plug for condition monitoring.
Don't overthink the plastic shift lever, it's plenty strong and up to the task.

I checked my GSA and it seems to be aluminium or some sort of composite but it’s certainly not the normal mat steel that was on my 1250 GSA.
I’m sure it fits the bill perfectly.

Maybe I am not being clear… I’m talking about the shift lever for your left foot not the lever on the handlebars…..
