....So my softail needed an inspection, to check if there is any issue with the adjusters, as the material they are made from is known to fail or wear prematurely.
39945 miles is the recommended interval for checking, apparently a few don`t make it this far.
I found a video on youtube showing you how to do it, so it seemed easy to do, just need a small dental mirror to check the rear tensioner and a visual comparison with the facing tensioner to see just what the wear is, if any.
Mine are not half way worn, so I decided to leave them be and replace them on a winter stripdown, probably 2016.

This winter it is being sprayed to my liking and I am going to hire a small ethnic person to polish the wheels.

I also replaced all fluids and have ordered a new rear tyre for my Orange/Provence fling next month

Copper ring exhaust gaskets are the way to go, far better than anything else I have used in the past.....Idling seems better now, gearchange is improved and she was an absolute delight to ride this afternoon in sunny Lincs, in just t shirt and jeans:thumb

Looking forward to my first solo road trip in a long while next month.:beerjug:

Apologies for a sensible post, I will ensure it does not happen again.

Lets hope it stays that way. :thumb2

Now have only got to worry about trying to avoid jackass dave on the trek home. :D

what colour are you painting it mister ,are you going to have any wolves on there?

I really wanted a nice white/off cream and green colour, the green they used to paint brit motors in the 60`s along with the odd lawn mower, however I went to that biker place in Bury St Edmonds earlier this year, name escapes me now, I was on a Buell meet thing and the hipsters were buying Harleys done in this colour scheme, so that put me right off, hate hipsters with a a passion, wankers the lot of `em.

So had a long chat with bruv, he paints for a living (Trucks down to bikes) and he confirmed that a decent candy red looks the bollocks with some black metal and a bit of Gold for highlighting certain lines.....I like the idea, I wanted matt black for the black, but he said it is a pain in the arse to keep right.....I reckon he is right......Until I change my mind once again that is:D

[serious head on] If they're half worn , I'd replace 'em sharpish...I've seen 'em with a few defects that show up after partial wear.....that have gone from " part worn" to " fucked" in next to no time......[/serious head off].

I took a ' bike out for a feckin' good pasting today. Been to see Mom and that always puts me on a downer...so what better than to take a 'bike that's been owned by a couple of old dodderers....and give it a proper work out. The brakes are now properly bedded in and work 100% better....and the whole 'bike feels snappier now........ :)

Dr Death? Fuck off........

Thanks for the advice.....I have optimism, all it can cost me is a new S&S lump if this one eats itself:thumb.......I should go and see my mum, but I need to build up to it!

My missus is still laid up, so I am still doing the shopping etc....7 weeks in and nobody has yet died:D I am making myself enjoy it and being unusual, more so than usual:green gri

She? SHE? You'll be referring to 'ride outs' and your 'stable' next you feckin' tw@ :bash

It shall, I have made a little promise to myself that I shall bludgeon to death any human that tries to tag along.:beerjug:

I think it safe to say, your cosh will be able to safely reside in your knicker drawer without fear of disturbance. :D

I check my tensioners at 10.000 intervals. the other important thing to replace is the rear cam bearings as they sometimes have ina bearings fitted these should be changed for Torrington type bearings. Phil at Fatboyz diner in Trowbridge sells modified tensioner pads supplied by Falcon Performance in Tennessee USA. they are on ebay also. or alternative if your crank runout isn't excessive fit gear driven cams but expensive.
