i know speed isnt everything, but it sure is fun passing those arse in the air crotch rockets on a comfortable bike that can carry lots of camping gear, tour europe comfortably on etc 2up, use down the local quary, and use all year round without wondering when its going to fall apart :beerjug:

i'm guessing yo've got nitrous on ?

links don't work.

what revs at 149 ?

its just getting into the red line...i think the only way to get it to go any faster is to change the gearing :(

i guess im going to have to become a site sponsor so i can post the pics ;)

send them !

I think he's user name "laughing gas" describes pretty precisely what fuel was used.

Well done!!! :clap

But be careful about changing the gear or final drive ratio to go even beyond this. I have my doubts wether the final drive or gear box will brake at those speeds - those really are fragile spots on any GS.

And i think it's reason why they don't allow the K1200S go beyond 300kph while engine's sufficent power and great aerodynamic design would allow it, but i think it's due technical reason: the paralever shaft drive that wouldn't resist that bearings and centrifugal stress do that much revolutions per minute...

Would be very hard crash if the rear wheel just blocks at these speeds!

Nice bike ,

Not a great fan of NOS personally prefer my blowers/turbos
still neat nice to know it can be done

Ask him about chasing a 650 Dakar round Der Nürburgring though.... :monkeypiz

Nice bike Pete :)

number8, thanks gfor posting the pics for me :beerjug:

Pops, i was takin it steady round the ring, cos i know how many people have fallen off behind you :nono :)

Tsiklonaut, i think I'll leave it as it is, had the gas fitted for over a year now without any problems (touch wood). Its enough to suprise sports bikes, some of my mates have spat the dummy out cos their sports bikes keep gettin passed by a BMW, especially on the B-roads bnige

149 MPH, he must have been using laughing gas, i'm pissing myself :D

Extra 50 bhp of nitrous!! Still overrall power way short of wife's fireblade, and it corners better, and stops better than my 1200. In the real world the rider makes the difference not the bike.

I'd agree its mostly down to the rider, but the bike also makes a difference. If you've got your arse in the air and your head below your armpits you cant see over that dry stone wall for the overtake. From the lights it will stay with my mates gsxr, a standard 1100gs wouldnt. Only fitted the gas for fun, and it puts a smile on my face every time i use it. ;)

Without changing the final drive the R1100GS redline at 208km/h (129mph) real speed, this is about 220km/h on speedo. If you do as I have done and put a final drive from the R1100S you can reach 140mph (real speed) before you redline it, but not more. :teacher

Sorry! :o

Nice work btw. :thumb

some anomoly here - have you changed the final drive or is your speedo overreading or are you through the redline ?

149mph or 129mph ??

149mph was the max speed readout on my Garmin quest. I'd been chasin my mates sports bike and i must admit i was well into the red line. the quest gives a consistant reading of 135mph just nudging the red line. maybe i need to look at the accuracy of the quest?
And how easy is it to put an 1100s final drive into the 1100GS?

My Quest say 208 km/h and my bike computer say 209 km/h at 7800 Rpm. The theoretical highest speed you can reach without re-gearing is 216,9 km/h. (134.8 mph). 7800Rpm/1.45/3/circumference of rear tire.
But, theory is one thing and :moped: ........ is another :) . Passing the red line is not possible because the ignition cuts of.

The final drive from the S is a straight swap and it's just take one hour to do.
(3/2,75*134.8) 147 mph theoretical :)
