14th year!

Near the lake on the north side?
If so it's quite easy to get to and also back onto the page.
Young lady behind the bar was very good.
Food good too and from 7pm.
Ask her if she remembers a bearded Scotsman who couldn't get into the Hotel du Parc because it didn't open until 6pm.
I rode from Kent and got there at 5:15 (18th July I think) and the door was locked. Parked the bike and went to the Campanile for a beer, or two.

Bit last minute on packing arrangements…….found the tent😀, can’t find the sleeping bag ☹️, not to worry, it’s hot in France 🤣. Checked out overnight ferry prices 😳 (gulp), decided on tunnel😄, bike all sorted 😁, apart from rebalancing throttle bodies ☹️ (oil head) but that’s 5 mins of a job 😁. No route planning done 🙁but that’s ok, I can make it up as I go along for this trip 🫣. Looking forward very much to meeting a bunch of fellow Gser’s and the great man himself (Sid) 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks Neil, I’m going to send Mrs Hatter on a foraging mission in the loft to see if she can find it tomorrow 😀

Spent another day prepping lol

So far i cant find

Merino top

Waterproof trous

1 inner glove

Oh and the brand spankers Sena 50s that arrived this morning is now reboxed ready to go back tomorrow :(

Something in it is broken internally - it rattles ( it shouldnt rattle )

I now have a second fitting kit on route, so i can use the 30k on the new lid

:)

I've got my merino top and waterproof over-trousers with me but no inner gloves, sorry (I do, however, have over-gloves with me)!
It's to be 37C here in Portugal this afternoon so I don't think I'll need any of them anyway.
We're heading to a beach area at a lake soon to watch the MotoGP while drinking beer and eating whatever, same again for tomorrow.

I leave ere Monday morning.
|See you there Santa!
I'm really looking forward to the weekend after two weeks of blistering sun here - where's that pool?

Don't you be jumping in no pool.
You'll frighten the kids.

I'll have my Reebok pool shorts on.
Anyway, I'm hoping Redboots will look after me like he had to do with you in Cochem!
(You thought I'd forgotten that!).

Accommodation sorted in a classic French mansion for Thursday night just north of Poitiers so a nice steady 2 day run down from Caen.

If I were on my todd, it would be a days ride but madam wants the winding quiet roads with regular stops which is fair enough I guess.

We are staying about 1km from Sids in an AirB&B so we'll unload the gear when we arrive on Friday afternoon and pop down to see what's what.

So, based on these instructions, I created a myrouteapp route - seems to be what is recommended so will give it a go.

Here it is if you want to use it as I will take this route down and will be stopping at a campsite roughly half way down.
[edit] - Point 4 is where I am most likely going to camp.

If you want a non motorway route after Waypoint 8 on your route that takes in the Dordogne valley castles/chateaus use the following route. It will be a little slow between 3 and 6 but the other sections are free flowing and scenic roads

Dordogne Valley

There are a lot of roads in this neck of the woods that still have "priorité à droite", see the RAC link below for road sign explanations, it is very subtle and the French still get confused

Priority to the right

Colin

All packed, setting off early Thursday morning, should arrive Friday tea time, looking forward to seeing you all
