Looks like OZ do a set for R1200GS LC and R1250GS.

Reggie , I did look at this site , but there is no mention on fitting , ie is the off set still there or have they made the wheel to suit the application with no off set . I will look into this further , but looking to run a second bike perhaps , 1290 SDR or the GT.
Just balancing the cost of the wheels discs etc against the second bike .. decisions , decisions …..

I think a new bike may cost a bit more than a set of wheels, but admire your man maths! :D

Your up early prowling the net , its more the re sale loss if I don't like the bike balanced against the possible dislike of a converted bike and the cost of the wheels etc etc , I love the 1250 as it is , so maybe a change could mess it up , so why not have another bike to fill the gap. Oh , your rite , my maths is shocking , but my self justification is perfect lol:green gri

Your up early prowling the net ,

I set my alarm, and everything. :D

But yeah, I get what you’re saying. Especially as KTM dealers will rip the arse out of the SDR pricing once they’re open again, so you’ll be able to get a real bargain. :thumb

I have been saving my pennies , and the dealers will be revving up to shift bikes , buyers market . Did your alarm clock make you a Latte ……….or was it the drop hammer type …

Thanks , they do look good , the mags look like the oz wheels pics 1 and 2 hmmmmmmm cheers for the post

I can’t wait for the lockdown to end. My 1250 is due a service when it will get the RS swingarm fitted. The 6” rim I have waiting will be powder coated high gloss black and have a 190 Metzeler M9RR fitted.

@Stick;alphatechnik makes the OZ wheel conversions...They used to build the S1000RR WSBiKes for BMW.
Rennkuh also does R1200/150GS conversions as Karl Maier a BMW Motorrad dealer in Germany...If I were you I would wait for the M1300GS with 150-160 hp and 17 inch wheels straight from the factory...:D
Then you have the right geometry as if you do it yourself you'll loose an inch of clearance at the front wheel and have less trail and most likely run into high speed stability issues...
Take care of yourself during the scam-demic...;)

Maybe the solution is just to change to the RS, as I've done. You get the 17" wheels and fatter rear tyre as standard. Expensively changing a GS into a sports tourer is akin to trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, as the old saying goes. The 1250RS has all the same tech and options as the GS, which wasn't the case for the 1200RS.

I understand your logic but what about the more comfortable riding position on the GS, with more distance between the pegs/seat/bars. I also love the benefit of the telelever front end. Both of those factors swing it for me.

I have a VFR800 which is a similar style to an RS, and it is not in the same league for comfort as my 1250 GS Rallye. I also don’t think the changes are that expensive. The wheels & swingarm have cost me about £500 but will still have a value if I ever decided to sell them in the future.

Problem for me are the forks , tried one and for me it was not ticking the boxes I was after . The front end of the Gs is great , the Rs not so . I sure it’s a great ride but I found when pushed it was good but did not feel as planted as the gs . Again that’s just my opinion and not meant to offend .
The conversion is to allow keeping the front end .

Stick...I'm with you ! The R or RS do nothing for me as they don't have Telelever that is far superior to any fork especially if the pavement is not perfectly smooth...And yes I hope the M1300GS will come soon with 150-170hp,17 inch wheels and the right geometry to take full advantage from the sportier rubber...:thumb
Stay healthy brother !
