You haven't sent the next one yet 😉 I have, (in my crystal ball) . Keep well and keep the good work up.

Genuinely thinking about this. Mrs Berin has a Basic that Mikey sorted, and I have an HP2E, fully fettled by Martin Wittering and in lovely condition. But I have a hankering to get something a bit closer in style to Mrs Berins Basic, which like her Defender she will never sell.

Now, I know feck all about airheads, other than I don’t want a standard one. I want one that’s pretty, with brakes and stuff, so needs updating - like this one.

Question is, is it worth finding a later GS or Basic as a base for fettling? Or is a G/S the way forward?

Grasshopper, you seek answers to questions that mortals cannot give... You must choose your path with care and then the fates will guide you....

That’s why I know nothing about airheads…

Along with a new brake line and a new 12mm master cylinder to give the best braking possible from a single discView attachment 414389
They certainly need it I fitted a couple of the American r90x kits using ducati 749 disc and brembo 4 pot using same 12mm master..👍 Beautiful, work Mick 👏

Another ST bites the dust. This bike reflects Mikeyboy’s superb attention to detail assembling all the parts I sourced over many years.
I can concur that the bigger brake is night and day better than the original ! What also needs stating about these bikes is how super light they are, especially compared to modern bikes. Handling and balance is reassuringly excellent and with the single seat the bike has great ergonomics and comfort. How much progress in 40 years…

A basic,or a kalahari is an expensive paralever ,same bike with different tanks and a few other bits.
Both really nice bikes.as is a standard para.
The g/s mono just feels lighter and less bulky,
The suspension is a bit less refined, but for b road bumbling and easy trails I’d choose the g/s

This “mikeyboy g/s” looks the bees knees, the mutts nuts, etc etc….

A credit to the builder, and I’m sure who ever is the lucky recipient will be a very happy boy /girl/ whatever!

The paralever special in the last pics also looks great!

Now I just need the lottery win, and I will make room in the garage for them both!

Now don’t keep us waiting….. whats the “next one”?
We need details, or at least a non-subtle hint or two……

Message sent re inspiration….

I think this is more your thing
I’ve had the seat redone and a few other bits fettled since this pic

It might be. In reality it would do more road work than trails, and any trails would be easy ones.
I’m away at the moment (just nm even in the BMW museum in Munich, funnily enough) so I’ll call you when I’m back.
