Can a mod please advise if this is oK in here?

An old chap I know, 85 now, has decided to sell his TR7.

It's no garage queen, more a kind of a project. The gearbox was rebuilt last year, and a new fuel tank was fitted. The car will have an MOT (I am doing a few bits on it for him) as soon as some parts arrive. Currently waiting on a new McPherson strut for the right front.

He has changed the seats, as he found the standard seats a bit uncomfortable for him, and the wheels. He also had the rear window removed and fitted with a perspex window that opens (for a small dog)? but all the original parts have been kept and can be re-fitted by the new owner. The car has covered 53,000 miles, it looks like it could be original but cannot of course be guaranteed.

The car drives OK, if you like TR7's, and the underside has no serious corrosion to speak of. I think the colour if fucking hideous, but that's just me...

Hes looking for around the 4k mark, its on car & classic for 4.5k. Prices for these are all over the place. Minters are at around 8-10k, but this isn't one of them.

Its a fairly tidy and honest car which is tax/mot exempt of course, and if you are into these, I reckon its one of those appreciating classics.

Steve.

Memories, I used to take my dads out for a spin at 16 years old when him and mum went to pub on a Saturday night. My driving instructor when I was 17 lived across the road and on my first lesson said put in for your test as I’ve seen you have been driving for the last year 🤣🤣🤣

Funny 😂 I thought it was just me at 16 when my mum and dad went to the pub on a Saturday night 😁 Fiesta Sport though 😂 nearly put it into a sandstone wall on one excursion 😬 used to chalk mark the wheel places so I parked it back exactly!!

2nd car was a TR7. I’ve got a picture somewhere. One light winked when it lifted. Real character. Loved that car.

Good bit of fun for £4k, although I bought one for £200 once with a years MOT, it was really rotten, must of been ddgy MOT, but it was a years cheap motoring.

Almost impossible to navigate a wet roundabout without it swapping ends.

Whoever made those British Leyland door handles must look with pride at just how many vehicles had them fitted…

One of my neighbours has a V8 TR8 which sounds fantastic

I am almost certainly wrong but I just about recall that they were supposed to have the five speed gearbox (used in Rovers) but there were not enough of the five speeds made so they used the four speed which was inferior in everyway.
(Yes the colour is hideous)

Had a gold convertible in the early 80s. The looks were controversial after the TR6 but it was a fun car.

I forgot to add. In an effort to give himself a couple more years behind the wheel, he had Electric powered steering fitted last year. That alone cost the poor bugger over £1000!

Good luck to the old boy. I hope he sells something that has clearly meant a lot to him in his later years.
I feel sorry for him having to let it go.
