1991 FJ1200

I visited "the Doc", he's the Steptoe of the FJ world. This was in the summer, I watched it being done, but, :( they waited until the engine was stone cold before doing the shims. Good on them for ensuring it was cold, but, the FJ gets very hot, wasn't cold for about 6 hours!!!

9 shims changed!! oil & filter, fork oil, (probably first time this was changed) air filter, and a once over.

Still pleased with it. Makes me wonder about progress though. My Diversion 900 which was apparently the bike to replace the FJ.

The Divvy has only one bulb in the rear light, the FJ has two. FJ has self cancelling indicators, Divvy doesn't. If only the FJ had been shaft drive:blast

To be fair the 3xw FJ1200 does not have self cancelling indicators :D

Just seen this thread, brings back great memory's of my FJ1200A.

The abs brakes which were unusual for a bike of its age saved my skin on the A1M when it was pissing down and a car driving numpty pulled into the outside lane without indicating. I grabbed a handful a brakes and the abs kicked in, i think without them i would have locked up and would have been chucked down the road.

I had it for about three years and like every one says the front callipers had to be cleaned and checked regular.

Fantastic bike. It came with a sports screen and a touring screen, i've still got the touring one as one day i will get another... hopefully :)

I got stopped by a bike cop for wheelying one of these ( white/gold/red stripe ) away from some lights, then proceeding to hit about 130mph before the next set of lights. - They wheelie really well by the way

He wasn't very happy.

He nearly exploded with rage.

He wanted to rip up my license on the spot.

Luckily for me I was on military land and he had no jurisdiction. ( North Camp,Aldershot)
Luckily for me it wasn't the military police that saw me.

Unluckily for me he made me take the brand new 6 miler bike back to the workshops from where i'd just PDI'd the bike- with him following and the blue light flashing.

Unluckily for me he proceeded to then explain my misdemeanour to the workshop manager in front of some customers while his bike was still outside with the blue light flashing.

Unluckily for me he then made the shop tell the customer about it - who promptly cancelled the order

Luckily for me when he'd gone we all had a bit of a laugh about it and i didn't lose my job :D

The bike got sold to someone else and the world kept turning.

I was young - ok ?

:popcorn

A classic example of...oh fuck it I can't be arsed to get started on this.

Utterly speechless.
