Hi as the title suggests.

Bought a 2010 GSA and have now done 3500 miles on it.
On my previous bikes I would be looking to change the oil and filter around 4k.
The Oil in the bike till 6000 doesen't sit right with me somehow!!

I know what the manual says, however, has anyone else got similar thoughts.

I am at the M. Dealer on 09/6/ and am thinking of purchasing a filter whilst I am there.

Best regards Stretch :)
PS its not another oil thread, re, I know what to put in it :D

Wouldn't bother, TBH. They will run to astronomical mileages with the standard service intervals.

Save your money for petrol!

:)

you have to remember that the oil isn't getting beaten up in a gearbox like most other bikes so can go longer on the oil change.

The manufacturers intervals are just fine, on bikes that are probably given a harder life than yours BUT if you want to change the oil sooner, it's your bike, do what makes you feel comfortable.
Personally, i wouldn't bother; my GSA has 4,000 or so & I won't be changing the oil before the Service interval.

Stretch, I know what you mean.

most likely the old oil will be fine and changing it will not affect engine life. But it can't do any harm and when you are giving it the beans inside your head it feels better to know 'my new engine is running on new oil'. compared to 12K you spent for the bike its a trivial cost to give you peace of mind and the feeling that you are doing everything you can to get the best out of your cherished machine.

dealer will say no need but in the end its about how we feel when we ride and thats what you ( and I) are ready to pay for. You want to - Go for it.

Oil will soon be a scarce commodity. The oil will run out before your engine wears out, so save your money and conserve the oil stocks :D
