Hi - ok so this is my very first post so please be nice to me :) I have decided to seriously think of buying a GS1200 now. Went to a local dealer today and meet a rider who told me of this excellent site. So I managed to get me leg over the seat -just :) not sure of the technique with a full luggage pack - but will worry about at a later stage. The dealer offered a 3 hour test which I will take up.

Question if I may - whilst sitting on the bike which was comfortable I could not get my feet flat on the floor. Had the balls of the feet touching the floor ok and the sales guy said that was fine - I think the model had the standard seat in the lowest position. I have not been used to this as my current bike although very heavy is well balanced and I am able to get both feet flat which gives a sense of security when stopped. I assume you just need to use common sense and check where you stop trying to avoid slopping areas -not always possible. Any thoughts please - I am sure it will be fine and become second nature very quickly.

Welcome.

You'll soon get used to not having both feet flat on the floor.
Also, if it really bothers you, you can get lowered seats and, if you get the standard shock version, you can get lowered shocks too.

Note: make sure the dealer has the seat on its lowest setting (they are adjusteable).

Good luck - you'll love it.

p.s. don't worry about the indicator cancel. You'll get used to it (honest).

Sales guy was right.
It seems a bit strange at first ,but after a couple of rides you wont even notice it.
Im a sub 30in inside leg and manage fine.
Oh,and Welcome along.:D

Welcome to the site Hal :thumb

That's 3 replies full of being nice....

Now then.... its a 1200GS not a GS1200 ;) :rob

And when you've made the purchase...

...you can come to the Eynsford Tossers meeting. There's one tonight: see South East regional guide.

Welcome.

Thanks everyone for your responses and warm welcome - really helpful. Thanks Bryn that did make me laugh - note to self 1200GS, 1200GS :)

I think I need to book a test ride and then I'll know for sure. Thanks again.
