Just recently back from a 2000 mile trip round France, Spain and Portugal on the S10. The bike went very well indeed, no problems at all. I added a tad of oil as I thought it was getting low, but in reality I think I mis-read it (dry sump oil levels are always tricky).

With a full load of tent, camping gear and other gubbins I had the preload up to max. The bike handled amazingly well fully loaded and flicked about in a very desirable manner in the twisties, as though there was no luggage on it.

I continue to be bothered by the throttle which is heavier than I'd like despite some tweaking to lighten it. I may need to do a bit more work on this, or just stop moaning about it as it's lighter than many other bikes, but I do like a very light throttle.

I did a bit of off road on sand tracks and whilst the weight of the bike isn't an issue when it's pointing the right way, it quickly gets unwieldy when sliding about so you need to be careful. However, I'm happy to report that I stayed on while my pal on his KTM 990 Adv dropped it twice, so the S10 must be superior right?

None of the other bikes had any problems either - we had a Triumph Sprint, GS1200, KTM 950SM and KTM 990 Adv in the group. Overall, a top trip and the camping was the highlight for me. Amazingly the GS held together which was a surprise for everyone and mildly disappointing :thumb.

Oh - if going into or out of Santander watch out for the police - me and one of the group got nailed for a €100 fine (escorted to the cashpoint 15km away!) for overtaking on a solid white line. There were stacks of police around waiting to pounce so be warned.

So all in all, the bike is brilliant and totally capable.

And disapointingly for the S10 owners, the twin cam GS nailed your ass in top gear roll ons!!:augie

Ah yes, using your special "silent countdown" method :-)
