2008/03/23 - Event - Red Kite Rally

In the post

Posted my application this evening

Happy days

My Cambrian documents went awol in the post so I never received details of the WTRA membership. Will I still be a member or does it only last to the end of the year?

And what is this new "Road Traffic Act Insurance Scheme Fee"?

You'll need to renew it for 2008

I'm still waiting on loueye to buy a bike and organise his Scotland tour, if it falls through I'll do it.

Timpo, me and my mate are going to do this , hese on a drz 400 enduro and ill be on my xr250r, hese about the same standard as me so if you are still looking to make up a team and you dont think well slow you down youre more than welcome

ferret:blast

Aye, Timpo might slow me down like, but only as I shoot of another drop. :D

I'm not in the same league as him and my bikes not as quick. I'd be the team bottleneck.

Sent my application in. Teamed up with Fredkat and another mate. A husaberg, a Yamaha and a Husky....Is nice, I like

Here's my steed for the Red Kite..........

Methinks the bike may have more balls and ability than me  I thinks it's going to be a different kettle of fish to winging the old DRZ around the Cambrian Course. Guess the throttle works both ways though.

Can anyone recommend if MCE 6 Day Extreme tyres are any good on an XR650R whilst we're at it - cheers

Looking forward to it immensely :bounce1

Rich

Hi Rich, looks a handful that one but nice :clap

My plan now I've got something as well as the GS which is more suitable was to do all the main ones this year but I am away for this one and for the Ryedale too :blast, so hopefully see you and the others at one of them :D

Richie,

Nice XR!

Now that the Rally organisers have seen sense and allowed any 'road legal' tyres there is no need to fit the more expensive and faster wearing FIM - Approved enduro tyres.

For general green-laning go for the Mich AC10's and for dry gravelly tracks like the Cambrian with road use thrown in you can't really beat the Pirelli MT21's.

Both these tyres can now be used in the Rallies.

See you at the Red Kite?

Cheers, Rick.

Well, maybe at the start line :augie but you and that KTM of yours will be eating my rocks and dust for the rest of the day - or until I stuff the XR into a ditch :blast

Only joking mate, yep definately see you there - I'm working Saturday so plan on arriving very early on Sunday and probably staying until Monday morning at the Rugby Club again??

Rich

Richie,

We will be camping at our usual spot at the rugby Club and staying Sunday for a beer.

Don't forget the JD! :D

Cheers, Rick

I've just received a copy of the final instructions, and it states " ANY mx tyres are excluded".

i take that to mean the crossengo's and AC10s will not pass scruntineering....

Nathan

AC10's are a strict no-no! Dunno about crossengos, if they are E marked then I dont think they are a problem.
