1100 miles, I had the bike in March and since then it has had a flat battery (replaced) and today it just cut out 18 miles from home. It restarted and then cut out again so I phoned BMW emergency. Whilst waiting for them, I started the bike again which seemed to keep going and got home with no other problems.
Wondered if anyone else had similar problems? I am beginning to not have much confidence in the bike any more.

Thought the fuel pump relay dies never to rise again

However it's not unknown for loose battery connections to have "fun" or for a dying battery to have it's share, a search on Tim Cullis recent posts out in Morocco might be of help.

First, forgive me not introducing myself but this is not the time. . . This is exactly ( much as OP's ) how mine failed. Acted like no/bad gas. Restarted several times and got me to a gas station 1/2 mile or so distant from initial failure. Added fuel and some alcohol thinking water in gas but same symptoms persisted. Would run for an few seconds or minutes and then fail. 2 hour wait for tow, new relay and no problems. Not feeling so bad about 2 hour wait as dealer performed a fine/rare cleaning saving me 2 hours of insect/tar scrubbing and bloody knuckles.

Oh, about 4k mi. on clock. Also experienced EWS (non fatal- solved by disconnecting batt. reboot computer) failure at around 3k. Sorry to digress and please don't take this as whining. Warts and all still in love.:adv:

1100 miles since March? Where you been dude??:)

Best bet is get it straight into your dealer and they will check it out and fix it. It`s what warranty is for:thumb

It will be far more beneficial to your nerves than posting on here and trying to get a complete solution because the tales of woe will have you running for cover. I`ve had a few issues with mine in the last few weeks but all been fixed no absolutely no problem.

1200GS is nearly a year old and 8000miles. No bling/extras (only 3 vario boxes). No problems apart from rattly mirrors and a new rear Annakee at 6500 miles. :hide

Sounds very similar to what happened to me on saturday afternoon, only i was bout 70 miles from home.

I have a 07 1200GS with 3000 on the clock. (before i get abuse for the miles, bought in late Nov, garaged in Scotland while moved to London over winter! :) )

Called BMW Emergency number, they had S.O.S motorcycle recovery firm to me within the hour, not bad considering I was in the middle of no where.

Bike was collected at 11.30 on Monday, called Tuesday afternoon, bike was ready. Woman said something bout Fuel Pump and that there were other items that had been recalled, so these had been all changed, under warranty.

Picking bike up wednesday, going to try and get a list of all items changed under the recall, be interesting.

hope its all better now!

Return

Hi all,
Just to let you know, the bike is now back from the doctors having had a fuel pump 'upgrade'.

They say this should sort the problem out and should be OK for the GP on Sunday. Hayden will be happy to have a decent bike to ride!

The dealer didn't go into much detail about what they had changed, just said that it was an upgrade.

Sounds like an ongoing problem with these bikes....
