Couple of additions since the first post, as I said befoe it's a work in progress and I want to try out some ideas I've had for a while now.
I'd picked up a set of BM's metal head-guards through the site for the last bike but when Ifitted them thy did notlook right to me against the magnesium heads so a quick trip to Halfords and one £5.99 tin of matt gray high temperature barbeque paint later I had these:
My original intention was to paint them to check out how they looked before getting them powder coated. but at the moment I think I'll stic with the matt grey bbq paint as it's going to be simple to maintain and quite honestly in the flesh looks pretty good paticularly against the matt grey bike.
Comments good, bad or indiferent as always are welcome.
Picked up a Touratech one piece seat which arrived this morning, always wondered how these would feel on the bike and while I can't try it out properly at the moment I'm pretty impressed with how it feels ( and looks
when sitting on it even in the garage.
While it's classed as a standard version equivelent to the stock seat height it's cut narrower at the front so you can get more of your feet down.
It's fitted with a slip resistant fabric and the padding removes the dip of the stock seat which throws you against the tank and there is a lot more surface area to play with at the rear.
Very simple to fit to the bike, there is a very neat stainless steel fitting supplied to lock the rear of the seat in place complete with an easy to access release lever for removal.
As the front of the seat uses the same mounting points as the original it still needs the key to remove it so it should still be where you left it after that tea and bacon butty on a Sunday ride out
Now what's next?

regarding the head guards, use the paint for the bbq. Either get them powder coated satin black, or sell them on ebay for £80 and get a set of black t/tech ones.

Opinions are what I'm after on the colour Nick, one of the reasons I'm painting rather than coating at this point

I think that the grey is quite close to the grey on the flanks of the T/Twat seat Roger.

Digital photography is good but no substitute for seeing the real thing.The colour looks ok,but is subjective,if you like it then go with Powdercoating in the same shade.Seat looks nice.

what about a cover for the starter, i wonder would one from the 2007 model fit. otherwise the bike looks very good indeed.

As far as the started cover goes the engine is different from the previous models so I#m not sure if it would be possible. Ar least the starter is black
gosh look at those chicken strips -are there no bends between glasgow and belfast? at least wayne didn't abuse it on the way home

Made a final decision (for the moment anyway ) on the colour of the headguards, satin black to match the engine barrels.
