2008 GS the bling has beglun!

Nice top box Thunder. Have just been discussing a similar item with Civil, after he managed to talk me down from a really big box. Just want somewhere to put the bulky stuff on work trips and struggle with the Varios and no top box. Also want to be able to sit the box in place of the passenger seat, how do you do the changeover?

Going to have to do a final measure up and make a decision shortly:thumb2

Well all i can say is that you either must have a very understanding partner or way too much time and money, or Both :beerjug:

Are you fit enough to ride yet? It seems to me an ideal method of rehabitulation -is that the word? The petrol you have not used will go a long way towards your 'bling.'

You seem to be missing one of these on he blinh front :thumb2

Had Stebel Magnuns on the last bike but they won't work on the 08 with the ESA so I'm experimenting. :augie

I was thinking about moving my Stebel Magnum from my 04 GS to my new 08 GS...

Are you sure it won't work ?

As I use the GSA rear rack rather than the standard GS trpod affair moving the box forward is simple as it comes with the mounting points built in, just a case of un-bolting Civil's frame.

With the Vario panniers and standard rack fitted you might need on of Civil's mounting plates to move the box forward, might be worth having a chat with him:thumb

Thanks. Didn't want the box up in the air on the 'tripod', it is way too high. The adventure rack looks much better, but don't really want to go that far at the moment. I have nearly worked it out now and will use the adapter plate to fit in place of the pillion seat, then I can get the offset I want and also key release for the box.:clap

thunder - first time i have came across this thread and may i say the bike looks remarkable - i hope to have a 2008 gs fairly soon - slate matt black - glad you ditched the initial headlamp grill - the spoke wheels are the business and the colour coded luggage looks impressive - i also like the remus hex can - biking is a passion and i think that the cost of these items is immaterial - on a personal basis when i uplift my 2008 gs in slate black i wish to add a machine-art mudsling - perhaps a beak extension - BMW basic head guards - BMW tank bag and full vario luggage and finally some proper tools including an oil filter wrench - safe riding through 2009 and enjoy your bike :)

Thanks for the feedback, as has been said I've moved away from the 2's for the meantime but am still riding GS's, 3 of them in fact currently. :augie

Health to ride your new steed :thumb
