Hello All,

New owner of a GSA and using the bike for commuting around 150 miles total a day, I would like to increase range.

Can anyone recommend either a replacement tank or addition to the existing at the front, I do not wish to add any extra tanks at the back.

If anyone is aware of the options available and details such as ease of installation, required parts and whether the existing trim will cover or respray needed would be greatly appreciated.

Covered about 400 miles so far after having sports bikes for years, traded in my ZX10R. What a difference, this bike looks and handles brilliant. The only problem was the height so I had my seat sent off for trimming and a gel insert added- Solved the only problem I had with this bike. Only cost 60 GBP + postage, got the Guy's name off of this site and well happy with the returned item and service.

Thanks All.

Hey Al,

Great bike, am sure it'll be a great commuting companion. Worth posting this in the 1200GS Hexhead pages too, as will be loads of people there to help out. Am sure there are a load of Wethead converts too who will be able to suggest things here too.

I also commute about the same distance, and find I have to fill up every other day as the bike runs out of juice between 300-350miles. I upgraded from an 800 Triumph Tiger, so I didn't have to see the petrol attendant everyday.

I am sure there are solutions out there for your predicament, but with 30'ish litres of fuel up front, the weight increase of more may make things a bit sketchy, just my humble opinion.

Good luck and hope someone can help with your quest......have you tried the usual suspects of Touratech who do some extended range tanks for various models.....don't know about the GSA though.

Rob

Cheers Rob,

I'll take a look at Touratec to see what they do. I believe I did read somewhere about being able to add a kit to the existing tank up front or completely replace with a bigger tank but forgot where I had done my research.

Don't really want to add at the back. I am sure there must be some one on here that has done this previously and maybe even a thread but I put a couple of searches in and couldn't find anything.

Thanks very much.

Al.

It will go further than any previous bike you've owned and if you behave you will only be filling up ever other day? 350 from a full tank is easily achieved. Surely not a big problem.

Hold on another day will need another 16 litres. I don't think that's a good idea. JJH

Not a big problem no... Just looking at options at the moment.

I thought I had read previously there is something like an "Enduro tank" that can replace the original? But to be honest I was 1st considering a standard GS rather than the GSA which I purchased so my memory may be a little off.

Must be all the vodka and stella I'm drinking. (Though not while riding!!!!).

Buy a GS650 and fit the touratec Dakar tanks and then you will have around a 600 mile range !!!

Thanks DM,

But I am getting a little too used to my new GSA. F..king brilliant!!! Tops my various ZX's and Blades no end.

The only disappointment at the moment are the lights but I have ordered a couple of LED kits for High/ Main beam and some HID's for the Fogs so hopefully this will improve things.... We'll see..(maybe a little better in the dark).

Cheers, Al.
