2008 GSA Shock

I ride a 2008 GSA currently with 2800 miles on the clock, last sunday noticed the front shock was leaking fluid ( probably a bad seal ) the bike has the esa setup....Has anyone else encountered a blowin shock, on the 08 gs or gsa???

Am on nearly 4k on the '08 GSA with ESA and have just checked, all looks fine , The ESA units are built for BMW in Holland by a company called WP http://www.wpsuspension.co.uk and are reputed to be good for 50k plus, having been well tested.

I am sure you wont have any problem getting a replacement from BMW on warranty

At least they don't admit it...

BMW should take care of it, for the record WP is not in the line of fire for this one as:

The system on the 1200 GS 2008 is made by SHOWA ...

On the K1200 models the ESA system is produced by WP...

I thought there'd been a recall on the front ESA shocks on the GSA

They did, mine is a May '08 and the recall was for bikes prior to that so clearly the problem not completely solved or my shock was a bin end and bolted onto the bike anyway

Was told in Linds in Norwich that there is a campaign ongoing for front shocks - my may 08 gsa was not in the latest batch to be recalled but htey expect it to be shortly.

Picked my 08 GSA up on the 28th May and yesterday at the dealership they checked for recall and nothing on mine. It has not missed a beat in 7500 miles to date so fingers crossed

I have a 1200GS 2008 with ESA.

Registered 6th June manufactured after 17th March.

Current mileage 8000+

Fingers crossed no problems with bike apart from cracking 'aftermarket' BMW GSA screen replaced without question.

Not aware of any recalls on this bike.
