Well as the title suggests I had a bit of a shock today.
( excuse pun)
I thought I would take the bike into work today as it was a nice day and after parking it up at work I had a few admirers looking over it and then I noticed this......
I initially thought it was some condensation from the link pipe but after sticking my finger in it..... see finger skids in picture
It was definitely not water
It was oil from the rear ESA unit
The bike has 16100 miles only and I'm guessing having it parked up for 3 months with only occasional use has led the internal seals to dry out and crack
Thank heavens for the BMW warranty as I inquired about the price and it was £1034 plus VAT plus fitting so I'm guessing not a lot of change out of £2000
Its booked in at NOG for next Wednesday. It was not pleasant riding it home. Felt like someone was hitting my up the backside with a hammer when you hit a bump!
Oh well..... at least it didn't go in 6 weeks time when in Morocco
