2009-02-22 - Event - Salisbury Plain Enduro

Just seen on the website that I'm down as number 7. Sh!t:eek: I'll be starting at the front in amongst all the fast nutters and getting in their way. Last time I had the distinction of setting the slowest lap time. Must remember again to pace myself on first lap.

Hope to see someof the friendly faces that were there last time to encourage me to keep going such as David and Jeremy.

Steve, thanks for offer to stay with you, much appreciated mate.

Only 2 weeks away now.

Would be good to see a few more entrants from on here so that I have some competition for last place.:)

Steve, yes thats a Yes, please. I'll come over on the Saturday afternoon with bike on back of Discovery (fitted new battery so you won't have to jump start it this time).:)

Jeremy, will be great to see you there again mate. Might need a hand refueling as my wife can't make it this time and its difficult to refuel by yourself. I need to try to calculate fuel use to work out when it needs it (assuming I do enough laps to warrant it:) )

Really looking forward to this.

No problem at all Sid. Let me know what time you want to meet and where.

Bakerman,Sid,
did you need to re fuel last time you did the event? just thinking that if the lap is around 5 miles and a mix of fast and slow sections I may get away without having to stop for fuel - more time to collapse in a heap to get my breath back! I am pretty confident of getting around 70 miles out of a tank of fuel.
That is good in theory ,and this is my first enduro - any tips or guidance would be very welcome.A few pointers about signing in or the offical stuff would help ease the nerves.

Stoping for fuel is quite a good opertunity to have a drink a mars bar or two and just chill, its quite pyhsical so take your time to enjoy it as well, there will be guys who can ride like the wind and be acurate with it, on your first event just getting into a rytham that you are comfortable with and can maintain for 3 hours is whats important. There are usually a couple of cheary ladies who will tell you what to write and where to write it at the signing on table, and the guys who do the scruitineering of the bike are very sensible,E.G. has it got wheels yep does it have a kill switch and brakes yep ok pass. What number are you off?

Well, I've entered as well. May be too late but as the Snowrun was cancelled due to the snow I have a bike thats all preped with nowhere to go.
