Hi

Every bike year is different it seems.

My 09 and 08 GSA's had a noticeable lift when changing to off road mode. They would shoot up and down, you could really feel it if on the bike. (Well, the byway was there so why not)

My 10 GSA is different. I could hardly notice any change in ride height when going up to off road mode. Yet coming down I could feel it drop smoothly so it definitely lifted. It seems slower going up and down but down is more noticeable.

Improvements continue it seems but I really think the ESA system is becoming less noticeable when riding. There used to be a marked difference between comfort and Sport modes but now the change is slight and only just detectable. Motorway riding on comfort mode is now semi-sport or hard normal mode it feels. I want a softer feel like the older system on comfort, for those shitty roads and motorways.

The sport and normal modes on the 10 GSA are good though.

Engine is a bit vibey on the new 10 version as well but the power is sooo much better through the revs. Running it in restricted to 5500 rpm, it was as quick as a 2006 GS following me.

How many miles has the bike done ?

Hi

500 mls but I don't think that is a factor in this as my previous bikes went on byways within 200 miles of delivery and I noticed the lift then. This bike
is essentially the same mileage as the others.

I was thinking more of your run in revs at 5500 revs you only have to use 5500 for the first 120 miles 200k, then every 200 k after that go up by 1000 revs by 500 it run in.

Ah, OK - I was in the the first 100 miles when this was noticed but when I could go to 6500 I still went steady with easy 1/2 5/8 throttle approx. Bottom end on this new engine is where it all happens.

It really is quicker.

every bike test i have read has said that there is not much change, but as you well know I can't say how much better it is from 0-6000 revs, it's so strong low down.

What a great motor

I've found the more I ride the bike the more I can tell the difference between comfort, normal and sport, it's really noticeable now.

As for the height adjustment it's not that obvious to see it moving up or down (although it obviously does), but I can certainly feel the height difference when riding. In road mode in passenger with luggage my feet are flat on the floor, in off-road I'm on the balls of my feet.

This is the first GSA I've owned, so I can't compare it against previous models. If I sit on it and adjust the ESA it's very noticable.
I love the motor and the exhaust note. I've just been away with two ktm adventures and Hooooooned it around scotland. Brilliant!!!

After years of sportsbikes, Ive suddenly found my self on a bike that gives me such a laugh. Stepping the back out on tight gravelly corners, wheelies over hump back bridges, sit on it for 10 hours a day, carry all your luggage to the next overnight stop, its a great all round bike.

I've come home with a fecked front shock.. (shock blown, oil everywhere..). I should be really fed up and cross that a month old bike is already going back to the dealer. But I forgive it!! (and promise to soften up the suspension next time I'm playing!!).

I really do think that sports bikes will soon become a dying breed. :)

+1 to the above.

I've found a tremendous difference between Normal and Sport modes and when I put it in comfort its like a pogo stick by comparison.:D

I doubt it, but I do think that the number will certainly go down in favour of more all-rounders, especially with the likes of the new Multistrada. I still think that the majority of younger people wouldn't consider a BMW except for the 1000RR. The stigma of the BMW is still there, although better than it was.

Having just bought my first BMW I like to think it's because BMW are getting their act together rather than me just getting old:augie:augie

Ok, a dying breed might be a bit strong but I think people are catching on to the diversity that bikes like the GS and the Multistrada can offer. Other than very trick electrics, I'm not really sure where the sports bike market is going at the moment.
