Prior experience tells me that Australian dealers are notoriously oblivious to what's available as an option on new bikes. For instance, the dealer from whom I ordered my last new bike from in '06 had not heard of the option of a chrome-plated exhaust ...

I notice some forum members have ordered new bikes for '10 ; I'm planning to do so myself in a few weeks' time.

Can anyone tell me what is available as an option on a new GSA ? For instance, I have read elsewhere can one order a bike with an "enduro" first gear ratio, and that some of the options are combined in various "packs".

Any info appreciated !

Phil

The packs are usually only interesting if you'd want all included options in the first place. Otherwise, it's best to order options separately. There's some calculating to be done, though.

Same thing here in the US.

Same situation here for US dealers being unable to say exactly what's available for the '10's, but only because BMW and their clueless reps can't/won't furnish them with the info.

I ran into that issue back when I was trying to spec one but my sales guy couldn't get any definitive info about tranny ratio options that are listed on the BMW press release for the 2010 GS's.

Personally, I'd hate to try to make a living selling these bikes with zero support from the parent company like that. I guess that the Beemerco figures that folks want these bikes so badly that they'll order them without knowing for sure WHAT they'll end up getting just for the "privilege" of owning one! :bow

Screw that attitude! It won't work with me.

Good luck,

John

I see on the motorrad link they talk about 'left and right pannier fastenings', I take it that's just the frame work to attach the panniers to. Any body got a ball park figure for a set of panniers and a top box?? (Please! :))

Cheers, Mike.

One would reckon they'd at least upgrade the technical data on that site : "one camshaft and four valves per cylinder", "77 kW (105 hp) at 7,500/rpm", "115 Nm at 5,750/rpm" .... makes one wonder what else is incorrect,

Phil

Try this link. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/pres...=9&id=T0069813EN_US&left_menu_item=node__2274

It's the official press release that describes the 2010 bikes.

The people who design the BMW site should try reading it and just do a cut & paste. BMW kinda reminds me of the government over here in the US. Nobody seems to know what anybody else in the organization is doing or saying, it's just a disorganized mess!

Oh well...

Good luck and best wishes on getting the info you need.

Retail in the US is about $1750 with locks and all (yes, the locks are separate!:().

Hope this helps.
