Hi all,

How much and what do they do, had a quote of £240.

Was told they had to wait for it to call down to adjust the valves !!

Well, they told you how much and by the sounds of it, what they were going to do:augie

£240 sounds about right but use the search button as there are bezillions of threads on this:thumb

Pls note I talking about a 2010 and it does not have valves does it ?

But thanks for such a helpful reply.

The valves are still checked at the 6000 mile service on the 2010 spec engines.

Bit stupid here,

Question I should have asked is " do the valves need to be checked every 6000 miles" Jap bikes every 18000 miles or so with an OHC motor.

My first service took an hour, without a valve check just an oil change.

As I was told it did not need to be serviced when cold, because of longer valve checks, me thinking first check would be at 12'000 miles.

That's what the techies at SBW told me, they are checked every 6000 miles, which is surprising. But it is a bit easier to get the rocker covers off on the new ones and it shouldn't add that much time to the service.

But not at the first service ? a guy over in the states has done 18'000 miles on a twin cam motor and the valves have never needed to be re shimed !! To me looks like away of making money and in time will dealers even bother to check ??

.....................my God! No valves? I know BM cut the odd corner to shave costs...but this takes the biscuit... I shall be writing a very stiff letter of complaint to those cheeky Bavarians..mark my words! Money back..or send me my valves, dammit...:augie

To be honest, it's only going to take about 15-20 minutes to check the valves, if that, so it won't add that much. Perhaps they will change it to every 12000 miles one day.
