I've just had a quote for a 12,000 mile service on my year old twin cam.
£360 including brake fluid change.
"No...forget the brake fluid" I said, I don't use the brakes! So it's now £311.

My last 12,000 service on my old 08 GSA was only £205, ok that was in 2009, but feck me, they only charged me £200 for the 6,000 service in August last year.

"Oh that's because the oil has gone up, so have the parts, then there's the extra VAT, the pound against the Euro, don't forget the 4 spark plugs and the air filter..blah blah then BMW's added tax for being a Tosser"

4 frikkin sparky plugs and two cylinders...HELLO.

Funny how the "old engine" doesn't need the plugs replacing till 24,000, but the twin cam @ 12,000 and £34 plus vat! How the feck does that work?

I felt sorry for them and offered to pay more.....

Does the team think this excessive or normal, or are the dealers all robbin barstewards! :nenau

do you like the fact that you can test ride any model?
get a courtesy bike for free or a small charge
in the winter pop in for free coffee and tea
in the summer for free cold drinks
receive good service from people who remember your name when you visit
and get your bike fixed by people who work on them day in day out

well i do and get v good svc from my dealer and i accept that this all costs money, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

yes its expensive to svc a bm but that comes with the brand,or go to an indie,

incomming i expect buts thats just how i see it and i dont really expect any one to agree.

Loosen your trousers, pants down and bend over:rolleyes:

service cost

Have a phone round and ask them to match the cheepest, How much did you pay for A 600 mile and then the 6000 mile???

I had a 6000 & Annual combined on my '59' plate GSA today for £255 if thats any help???!!

I think your best bet is to ring round. Have you thought of an independant? Much cheaper and you know the work will be done properly:thumb

If you want to save some more you may find its all about the oil - you have a choice - I'm sure I'm not the only one thats supplied my own in the past!

Can you recommend a good independent? I'm in Leics :thumb
Hi Thomas, we use the GS911 diagnostics for BMW's so no problem there.
We charge £160 for a 12k service and only use BMW genuine parts. Let me
know if you want to book in.

Sound slike my Honda dealer, only they charge half as much for servicing, perhaps the coffee is instant and not flown in freshly from columbia by private jet every morning :nenau

Not quite sure. Are you blaming the dealer for BMW changing the service schedule (not exactly fair) or are you saying they are changing them when they don't need to (in which case tell them not to do it - instant £40 saving)?

Fair, what's fair got to do with it?

A 2009 GS has plugs at 24,000 miles, an 2010 at 12,000, question is why should a 2010 model should need plugs at 12,000, just seems like BMW are extracting the michael !
